Just a little detecting and fishing

Well-known member
Spent ten days up in the north lands of Minnesota with my better half and had a great time. Nice cool temps, but beautiful over all. Both detecting and fishing were a bit tough this trip, but did manage a couple of walleye meals and several others were caught that were in the slot and had to be released. Hunted pretty hard on an old fairgrounds that I and others have hunted and besides a tough 1893 IH, some wheats, clad, junk jewelry and misc. that was all I and the Omega could sniff out of the old grounds. The last day we were at the resort I re-hunted the field behind the cabins that had given up 5 silvers on my spring trip and did manage to pull out one more silver...a 57D Washington quarter. A somewhat unusual find was a darning needle nearly on end at about 4." I could have dug ammo brass all day from the field. The first picture is the take for the trip excluding the older coins. They are in the second picture. Man, do I have some post reading to catch up on. Most of the finds were with the Omega using the 11" and 5" dd coils. Was able to run 99 sen, 1 disc. and used d3 and d4 tones and gb in the low 70's for the most part. HH jim tn

Thanks EL, its good to be back. Cleaning up some of the clad I noted 1 of the nickels looked a little different and with some rubbing, silver popped through....a 43 P. That black mineralized soil up there is tough on coins. Many of the wheats I will have to soak. HH jim tn

Like they say, a site is never hunted out. That is the way to be persistant. Great hunting. HH
