just bought a brand new delta 4000!

just want to say the delta is not what it's cracked up to be I was very disapointed in it more hype than anything!

I haven't used a Delta but I have read reports from those that have besides you. I can't find anyone saying that the Delta (or any other detector with a pre-set GB only) is guaranteed to work well in hot ground like you mentioned you have. I own and use a Gamma and Omega and I've seen great results with them. If someone else feels differently for whatever reason does that make their opinion fact and mine hype or vice versa? I know from your posts that you've had good luck and like the Tesoros. I on the other hand have owned and used all the Tesoros made in the last 10 years and particularly with their ID machines have not been a big fan. I think both of those opinions coming from two different skill sets, personal preferences, and hunting conditions are legitimate.

Sorry to hear you didn't care for the Delta amcjavelin. I hope you do find what you are looking for. So far I like my Omega but know I have a long way to go before I know it. It is different from what I am used to.

regards,

blacktoe

Well look i'm not really trying to bash the machine but my experience was if you did'nt have a great or repeatable signal don't dig it was a waiste of time and the numbers were very unstable plus tones were jumpy as well i tried cutting sens down it helped a little then i did some experimenting air testing trying to get a feel for the numbers everything air testing numbers locked that was no prob, then i have 0.5 gram of gold to try and it would'nt pick up on disc mode then in am it would do it at 1/4" of an inch away from the coil and this was the only thing i had and it registering foil the number locked on at 44, the pluses i will say that it's lighter than my tesoro golden umax and when you use the pinpoint mode the depth it shows for your target is dead on other than that i really wanted to like this machine

the pre-set GB was way off for your ground.

Hey it you don't like it you don't like it. We're all entitled to express our opinions on this or any other forum. At least on this forum you generally won't get banned for life for your opinion.

I will say one thing going for it is you can swing this all day it's redicusouly light wonder if the gamma and omega are the same weight?

Gamma is virtually the same given the identical rod setup and stock coil as the Delta. The Omega is just slightly heavier because of the rods which incorporate the T-2/F-75 style display mounting, and bigger coil.
