Just Bought MXT

New member
Hi,

I just had to tell somebody, I bought a used MXT off of ebay it still has 22 months of warranty left on it. I paid $925.00 But I get the MXT, the 9.5" coil, the 5.3" eclipse, 3X6" eclipse shooter coil, 5X10" eclipse coil, a bullseye pin pointer 140 mm, Hard Carry Case, a lesche digger, royal gt headphones. I have had a whites xlt, But did not like having to scroll through the menu all the time, I hope You can help me out when I get it. I hope this is a good deal.

Hi Mark,

Whether it is a good deal or not, you are really going to enjoy playing with all those new toys. I would be like a kid in a candy store.

There are a lot of real MXT experts on this forum that are willing to lend help. I am not one of those experts. I have only used an MXT for about 9 months for coin and jewelry hunting.

The one thing you are probably not going to enjoy is the ear blasting from the royal gt headphones when pinpointing a near surface target. The higher you turn up the gain the louder the ear blasting will be. Depending upon variable conditions the volume can become painful.

In my opinion MXTs should ship from the factory with a quality pair of headphones that incorporate a limiter circuit. I have a pair of Killer B Wasp headphones now and my ears have stopped ringing. There are other quality limiter circuit equipped headphones available. You will want a pair very soon.

If you are more of a knob turner than a menu scroller, then you are going to like the MXT. It is a very good and very versatile detector. Don't let the background chatter bother you. After a short while you will automaticly ignore it.

Hi Mark,
I know what you mean about scrolling through the menu. I had an XLT for years and loved it,except for the scrolling. I bought a MXT and love it to. 3 nobbs and 2 toggle switches, thats it. One thing to keep your eye on is, if you relic hunt in the woods be careful you don't hit the ground balance toggle switch to lock position. I've done it a few times. I relic hunt with zero discrimination and trigger pushed forward. Low tones are iron(let you know your in a hot area) and high tones are good targets. I just got my frist gold coin a few weeks ago(1852 gold dollar). Came in at a 14 on the VDI. Good luck and lets see some finds. JOE in MD
