Wanted to drop in to say hello! I can hardly wait for summer to be over - for MANY reasons - but mostly so that I can be back with y'all each and every day. I miss you all SO MUCH! Staying really busy but managed to take a few days two weeks ago and go to Gatlinburg with my daughter for a few days. I go there several times per year but it never gets old. I will be taking a trip next week to Savannah with my cousin, Betty, and am really looking forward to that, too! :) Always love going to Savannah, too.

A few updates:

Haven't heard a thing about that teaching position I told you all about a few weeks ago.

My son, Jason, has been out of the house for a few years now but has recently moved 45 miles away! It's killin me! lol Don't know how you folks with kids FAR away survive it! My daughter, Julie, lives on the other side of our property in our log cabin - and that's plenty far enough away for me. ;-) Before Jason moved, he was only about 6 miles from me.

It has been soooo hot and miserable here this summer. Nothing unusual. I'm sick of it. I've NEVER liked summer - at all. I'm tired of all these 95-103 degree days with the high humidity. You folks up North and out West, you don't know NOTHIN bout these conditions!!!!! Count you blessings! We've been under heat warnings for days too. We've just had a friendly little thunder shower roll through and bring our temp down to 83, and it's 12:15 am... at night. Every day of our summers is like living in a sauna. Hot, sticky, wet and miserable.

Guess you've all heard on the news about BP's Deep Water Horizon oil rig blowing up back in April and the unstoppable gusher (unstoppable until last week, but it's still leaking even with its new cap) and how it has devastated our coastal areas here in the South. Living here, we see it on our news constantly. So many families have lost their jobs because they aren't able to fish, do their shrimping, boat tours or anything else. Businesses on the beaches of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and the Florida Panhandle have had to close down because tourists are not going to our beaches. Here in Bama we deal with different conditions on our beaches daily. Some days they are beautiful. The next day we deal with oil slicks and/or tar balls washing up. My heart breaks for all the wildlife we've lost. Our beaches have sand that is as white and clean as sugar and our Gulf waters are emerald green, but thanks to BP, things are changing. BP continues to pump their lies to the media about all they are doing, but believe me, it's mostly a pack of lies. When you live here, you see a whole different story. Granted, I do not live on our coast; I live in the mountains of North Alabama, but we get a first hand view and constant updates, each and every day.

Those of you who know me, KNOW, I am counting the days till football season!!!!!! Local high school football kicks off on August 27th, and BAMA kicks off on September 4th. CAN'T WAIT!!!

No decision on the book writing. No time to even think about it lately. Will give it more thought a little later on but don't know that I want the headache of doing it.

I've bored you long enough. Will check back in a little later. Love to all of you!

Lisa

I am looking forward to football season too. That means fall will be here.
Doing a lot of water hunting here and finding a little gold. There certainly is not enough to go around. Less gold, more detectors.

God bless and stop by when ya can ya hear!

Mike

Thanks for stopping by, Lisa, it is good to hear from you on the update of what is going on! Weather been very hot and humid here, also; so I stay in my house most of the time! Just going to and from my mailbox leaves me wet from the sweat! You sound busy, too busy and sorry your son is farther away, but he is till close enough to visit and him visit you without too much driving! My son is the only one that lives close to me within 5-10 miles, and my daughters much farther south of St. Louis.....but they all might as well be on the moon no more often than I get to see them, although, I'm always happy to see any of them when they come!

I still hope and pray the school teaching job pans out...no news means that they haven't refused to hire you as yet; and I've the faith for you to be the one for the job! Keep the faith and slow down and enjoy life, it is too short to keep so busy all the time............get out and see the sights with your hubby, your cousin and/or the kids! Hope and pray the weather cools off for you and me both! May God Bless you and yours! Amen! Ma Betty

Good to hear from you. I am looking forward to seeing Kentucky play since we have a new coach

Hey girl! Glad you updated us on your exciting life ;) Been wondering how you were. Come back and visit us when ya get a chance.

I worked as a CAD designer and I was talking to a mechanical engineer. We both came to the conclusion that some engineers,BP, signed off on equipment or a design that was faulty. They chose their careers over the lives of the men on the platform and people of the gulf along with environmental damage. They had to of been told to do it, otherwise they wouldn't have. On the government's side, there were actions that could have and should have taken place. There were plans in place that were never used. Other countries with the skimmer boats offered within 3 days of the disaster to send those boats and our government would not and did not respond. The government's non-response, 8 days, was used to create a greater disaster and the disaster is being used as an excuse to destroy our energy industry. Deep water drilling was never in the plans by the energy industry, in that it is more costly and higher risk. The environmentalist brought it on. People are focusing on the President, legal or illegal he still is the President, because the things that are being done are his agenda. However, the democratic majorities in both houses and at times some Republicans are accomplices in this despicable plan to annihilate the United States.

I agree Paul and remember though that God may be bringing the Book of Revelation to fulfillment of what needs to be done to cause the seas and the lands to be one/third dead and not producible and then the earth will be burned by fire and brimstone.......................soooo I would say God is right on time! Not many Common Sense people in Washington, DC, for they are money and power hungry! People die becaue of their idiotic greedy ways! May God have mercy upon us all! Amen! Ma Betty
