I have gone back to the X-Terra 70 for one main reason.
I used it all last summer and had a ball with it. With the 10.5" DD coil Found it in my opinion a match for the Explorer in depth and a lot more fun to run.
At my age its a God given right to be wrong.
Happy Hunting to all of you and the best of luck in your finds.

... there is nothing wrong with liking more than one kind of detector, and you don't have to dislike one kind in order to like another.

Good luck with whatever works best for you.

HH Alton

Your call my friend....we all have our favorites and admit an Explorer isn't for everyone but many excell with...
We know you tried with several Explorers over the years and wish you luck with your new choice of units...I guess thats why there are so many brands out there...

Well Bob, it sounds like you are leaving the forum...sorry to hear that as you sure livened up the place. BTW, what are you doing with the SE??? Think I'll sign up for that hunt you are running before the BONE show. Talk to you later, Ron

In early December, I borrowed a Garret 2500 when my (older) Minelab Sovereign went down. For the first time in a long time, I found detecting FUN again! So I have a sense of what you're saying.
Was it the challenge of learning a new machine? The great (to me) size and depth imaging, unique to Garrett (I like coins)? The fact that I was finding good coins right away, some deep (that my Sov. had missed)? Probably all the above, plus there was no 'strain' in using the features - quite easy to use.
Meanwhile my Minelab, though not working properly, sat in the corner with hurt feelings. Betrayed, abandoned. Even unloved. I finally sent it out for repair.
But I digress. I got myself a new 2500, followed in a month by the new SE. (Always buy myself Christmas presents - kinda went overboard this year.) :cheekkiss: I now love the SE, but have not jilted the others. Each has its place - and variety in this hobby is sometimes needed for a 'spark'.

But now that I think about it more. We all have more than one machine.
I'm 60 and the XT is light enough for me to enjoy hunting all day without tiring.
Its still a Minelab:thumbup:

And it is NH Bob. The new line does basically the same as the Explorer with the exception of a few goodies. we will hate to see you not post here anymore. Oh, BTW the weight of the x-terra is really nice:cheers: Happy Hunting Grounds,

Savage

Glad you at least gave it a try. Now you can say, The Explorer is not my detector of choice.

I hope you enjoy the X-70 detector that was more fun for you to use.

You are always welcome here.....If you change your mind, or they change the Explorer.

Just use the right tool for the job. We do tend to make a cult out of our favorite detector when it (whatever it is) may not be the right tool for the job. The "right tool for the job" can vary person to person.

I've been in the construction trade for most of 40 years and those all day hunts kill me. As much as I like the SE it really wasn't that much easier on the old body. Great machine though.
To hunt with the Explorer and really understand what it's telling you takes a lot of time in the field. The forum helps but the hands on experience can't be beat. When I got my first one I had no forum or for that matter anyone around to learn from. So most all of what I have learned is field experience.
How does that go? One with the machine. I'll miss using. It is a quality machine.
