Just got a GT

I think you can download the owners/ users Manual from Minlab for the basic start inst. and the finer operation settings.
I personally use mine with the volume at 3/4 the sens at auto the 1 and 2 band switch on either ; pinpoint switch left on pinpoint and the switch next to it for im on the center positon im on; I turn the disc and notch both off but if you are getting a lot of trash at a school or park with the catsup wrapers you can tune them out at about 3 disc but can miss some jewelry there also .
Good luck.
Grumpy

Thank You, Grumpy!
I'm still waiting USPS delivering, so I'm gonna try to download owner manual.
All the best.
Ale

congrats on the gt, i love mine !
first, make a search here on the forums about sov gt, you will find this question has been asked and answered many times.
i set volume to full, it's ONLY the target and not threshold volume, if you don't set it to full you will miss some aspects of the signal that can be helpful in identifying the object (use headphones of course).
go in disc mode initially, it's easier for the start. i use iron mask on, you can go in off initially untill you start recognizing iron falsing better, it happens more with iron mask on. both disc and notch to minimum, threshold mode, and threshold just audible. sensitivity can initially be in auto, although then you should sweep slower. otherwise you can set it to 13-14 o'clock initially, if you don't get a lot falsing you can go to 12 o'clock. and the practice practice practice, after you get the hang of it a bit, change some settings (preferably one at a time) to see how it influences things, the usuall procedure i'm sure you are familiar with from other detectors.
good luck and have fun !

If you are not a fan of display screens and menu's you will absolutely love the GT. It is pretty straight forward as far as the control's go. You can use the factory reccomendation's for a fast start up and just go looking or make your own adjustment's. I run mine at
1.Volume at max and adjust the volume in the headphones.
2.Sensitivity at wherever I can keep a threshold for the area I'm hunting. I am usually tweeking it as I hunt (IF, the GT get's erratic and I can't keep a threshold),but I try to run at 9:00 to 12:00.
3.Disc. off
4.Threshold just barely audible
5.Iron mask off
6.Notch off most of the time. I have used it a few times where there is a huge amount of flip-top's,like at a fair ground's. It makes for a much nicer hunt without a lot of blaring signals that after awhile drives you nut's.
7. Toggle in pinpoint.
8. The manual say's you probably won't be able to tell any difference in the machines performance as to what band you use. But some of the people here with a lot more experience than me say's that band two work's best,so that is where I have mine.
Be patient and go slow. Have fun and good luck, Gary

Congrats on your purchase...just be patient, if you have used turn on and go detectors in the past this will be like learing to walk again.
