Just thought I would set something straight...

I posted what I thought was a Washington Inaugural button a few months back. After tallking to some people, there was some doubt that is was in fact a genuine Washington button because it didn't say GW or George Washington on it. Even thought it was listed as such in my Albert's book of historical buttons, I started to have doubts. I sent it in to Mark Parker of W & E Treasures. If you guys aren't familar with him, he has a column in the magazine where you can send photos of finds in and he will research, ID them and tell you the value. That's his job, that's what he does. I would have been a little disapointed if it wasn't a Washington button, but was ready for that. The value of the button doesn't interest me because I would never sell it. Of course it was nice to hear but the find means more to me for it's historical value and the fact it was found in a real small town where my great grandfather grew up in. He might have known the person that wore this button and that person might have been at Washington's inauguration, but who knows the history behind things? All I know is it was at the top of my wish list of things to find and it was just a matter of being in the right place at the right time and putting that coil over it. Sorry for the rambling but I thought I would set the record straight. Here's to an early spring. Ron
