Keypad Failure 705

My keypad just failed today on my 705. It keeps shuting off all by itself. gotta send it in to Minelab for repair. 10-15 business days. That sucks, 6 days before I am heading up to the gold fields here in Montana. Anyone have this problem?

No doubt you have checked since it is a recent topic but just a reminder that it could be the battery springs. I hate to send in a detector especially this time of the year.

My pinpoint button quit working on my 70 had to send it in. it took a month to get back.

I had a damaged battery and mine did this
replaced with a full set of fresh batterys and she works like a charm

as previously stated your springs may be depressed and need a gentle prise upwards ( emphasis on doing it gently )

This happened to me too. Search "705 PP stays on" last year, for other's that had these issues. It took 30 days for the turn around. I now have an e-trac, so I have the 705 as a backup or loaner machine now. Minelab seemed pretty good with communication and the turn around was acceptable.

I replaced batteries and it went away. Will see how long it lasts before it does it again.

This was my greatest concern before I purchased my 705. I have a friend with a Whites DFX and the membrane buttons have been nothing but trouble! His machine has been back for repair 3 times with keypad trouble,and actually is in the shop as we speak. I sure hope this is not a sign of things to come!
