Knight Templar, Orpan Annie, Wisconsin State seal, and Swastika Store Token

Hi all

Found some more-interesting-than-usual miscellaneous stuff today. Orphan Annie badge is from 1934. State seal of Wisconsin says "Warrented 14kt. Gold Plated on Genuine Bronze" on the reverse. Saw some similar FOBs for other states on the internet, guessing this is early 1900s.

Swastika good luck token is from the Boston Store in Richland Center Wisconsin. Safe bet it predates WWII. Found a similar Swastika Boy scouts medal from 1912 a little while ago.

The big medal says "GRAND PARADE AND ESCORT OF KNIGHTS TEMPLAR OCTOBER 1889" on the reverse and a likeness of Charles Roome, Grand Master obverse. Haven't found much info on this one.

Surfing the internet in search of information on goodies like this is quite a history lesson in itself. Each peice has a story to tell.

Chris,

You notice the swastika is backward compared to the ones the Germans had?? I beleive it is a Indian good luck symble that was used for years before the Germans used it. These are all interesting finds you are finding and some worth more than coins are,if not money it is history.
I am going to try to post a picture of a ring i found a couple of years ago in my daughters yard with my Explorer trying to learn it. I am told it is a Navaho Indian ring, but it sure looks like one I wouldnt wear in public as some would get the wrong Idea.

to where there is a buried cache of gold.

It is believed that after the civil war, a large group, including members of the Knights Templar, proceeded with a plan to bury weapons and amass cash in order to finance a second civil war.

The book, "Rebels Gold" describes the intricate clue system these guys left to lead them back to where they had buried their treasures.

The author of this book describes the situations under which he actually has found caches and the clues that were left.

I hope you are keeping a journal of what you find and where, and also making note of GPS coordinates.

Get your hadns on that book "Rebels Gold" it is a fantastic read, it really gets the blood pressure up!

Good Luck!

You should read "Dark Lanterns" (Frank Klemert) and "The Lost Cause" (Andrew Rolle) before you get your BP up to much, there is other info but this will get you started if you are really interested, pay attention to footnotes and look thru the Biblios, If there ever was a Bird it has flown...HH...Geo
