This past week end I loaded up the family to drive to my favorite lake. It's is a 3.5 hour drive and at this beach last year the Lake Looter pulled 5 rings and countless junkies. While my family was staying at our favorite place I took off to the beaches! I drive to my favorite beach and it's closed because of high water! I go to the office and they say all the beaches are closed and they may not open until fall. What a bummer. I'm going to have to find some new places to dip the Looter in the water. Well with my tail tucked in between my legs I stopped at a state park where I last year I was given the "no we don't allow detectors here" Well this is a new year and I though I would ask again. There is a sand volleyball court there and a nice play ground. So I stop and ask. I get the same "no, detectors are not allowed" She said I would need a special permit and no one has ever gotten one. So having 2 different permits in my posesion I whipped one out for that lake. She seemed dazed and confused. I knew the permit was not for that park but I took a shot! She said well I guess you can detect. I said thanks and knew I had to hit it fast. So off I went. Nothing there but a net, sand and a lot of bear cans and styrofoam cups. I was swinging pretty fast trying to cover the court. I got half of it done with no beeps. All I was rejecting was iron! That's when the ranger pulled up. He said that detecting was not allowed and the lady in the office was confused. He said he runs about 20 people a month out of there. So I guess the 20 or more people must have picked it clean! Well at the resort we stay at they have Pinewood derby races a couple times a year. So both my boys tied for first! Both of their cars ran head to head for first and second. They ran the exact times of 2.924 seconds on a 42 foot track. I built the wheels and axles and they painted them. Well I did tweak the cars some. Here are the photo's.
