Landstar vs. Discovery 3300

Aces High 333

New member
I'm comparing the Landstar and the Discovery 3300 also. The 3300 I just got back from El Paso. It had a motion mode problem and it was fixed at no charge. In my test garden, they both are about the same as far as depth in motion modes. The 3300 has an edge in no-motion mode (pin point). I'm still learning the 3300. Learning the VID numbers will be pretty cool . One mistake I did was to take the 3300 to a high trash park on first outing. That's like taking a boat out in 4' seas on its maiden voyage. I think that's what happens to some that takes a new machine out to a high trash area. Get overwhelmed. Even with that I found some clad and had a good time starting to know the machine. I look forward to spending more hunting time with the machine and also getting to use the 4" coil with it. The depth meter I use more of a relative depth than an actual inches. Funny I never really relied on the depth meter. The sens control also works in pinpoint mode, that's new to me. 3300 is lighter, nice... One thing I do know is I'll probably sell one or the other detector. Another month and I'll know which one to keep... Then get a bigger coil.
I did get to use an Ace 250. Not comparing it to the Lndstr or the D3300. It's alright (cute), but not for me. I'm starting to like the bigger displays.
Will keep you guys posted.....HHing

Thanks BH_Landstar, I've been following several threads. I like the D3300 so far, just need a few more hours or outings to be sure. I have a couple of ideas for simple mods I'll post soon...
