LARGE COIL.......

My large coil just arived. Thanks Bart at big boys hobbies. Is there any tricks to using this coil or should I just hunt using my normal programs? I cant wait to hit up some of the sports fields in my area and clean them out of all the goodies.

by all means use your programs

It is a learning process and like a figther pilot or ACE you have to hone your focus......and set goals and surpass them

coil control coil control coil control........you may not want to hear it but IT is where the rubber meets the road.......

you want to find deep targets that every one is walking over .......then you got to want to hear them first and recognize them for what they are .....it starts with the first dance dont step all over her feet like a buffon........exercise precision....the rest will come easy .....

programs that work for me with the big coil may not work for you in your soil .....but with a bump here and abump there in the right direction you can be all over it.....

Here's a good program i learned from the new xp deus video from the uk by roger it works well the targets just :surrender: i'll be posting the video up for sale soon it's great for a newbies hope this helps don
Coil: 9" or 13" X 11" coils

Disc: 4.6 [Expert] > > > 2 tones tone:1 202Hz (low tone) = 0 - 4.6 Tone:2 644Hz (high tone) = 4.7 - 99

Sens: 86 [Expert] > > > TX: 3 (Set sens according to ground conditions & local interference, ideally it should be set high enough so you get a few spits and cracks while
over iron, if you are using the "iron volume" on 0, if using the iron volume on 3 then up the sens until you get chatter, then back off until stable.)
A tip with the sensitivity is if you find you have to lower it below 80 to keep the machine stable, then it's probably best to reduce the TX (Transmit Power) to 2 and then increase the sens back up as suggested above.

Freq: 17.8 [Expert] > > > Frequency Shift

Iron Volume: 3 (You can set this to 0 to get rid of the constant low tones on iron, without loss of performance, you will still get a few spits and cracks while over iron
if the sens is set high enough, beware of the "hollow" loud sounding response, this will be large iron usually, if you like to hear the iron, then set to 3)

Reactivity: 2 (Set to 3 only if plenty of iron around) [Expert] > > > Silencer: 1

Audio R: 4 (I wouldn't set this to 5 on bad ground as It could distort the audio) [Expert] > > > Audio Overload: 1 ( I would leave this on the default 1 setting)

Notch: 00-00 [Expert] > > > Notch Setup

GB: Tracking (After more testing I've found setting the GB to "Tracking" gives a slight advantage over "manual" and "pumping" modes, it keeps the machine within one
number of the actual ground reading, "Tracking" keeps the GB spot on while detecting over changing ground conditions, the other two GB modes do not, unless of course you go through the hassle of resetting the manual mode to the changing ground conditions, or re-pumping every so often to reset the GB value, if the site is "awash" with iron then set the GB manually to 80.) [Expert] > > > Ground Balance Select

Can you explain what the silencer does it doesn't explain that function very good in the manual.

They are filter levels that deal with cleaning up Iron audio....which can smooth out Discrimination .....Snap Crackle Pop.... rice krispy's

I like to think of them as 0 being raw data unfiltered or live audio and as you progress to a higher numbers you are ADDING more fine layers of discrimination and filtering or

smoothing.....slowing down the maxium responce time or recovery...wheather noticable or not ......on the Gold Maxx Power (helps understand the evolution of the design)

Good luck with the big coil do not over drive it...... tracking is best in my soil
