Large NEL coils on T2

SWMO Mark

New member
Has anyone used a NEL Tornado or larger coil on their T2 ? Curious on how it does. Wanting to try one for relics or coins in open areas. Thanks, Mark

Most of the time i use the NEL Storm on my T2 which is 14x13 and yes it is deeper,as a general rule if you go upto a larger coil they will go deeper on larger targets but tend to loose out on the sensitivity to smaller targets,i find that with the Storm coil not only do you gain the extra depth but also its still very sensitive to small coins, which is a real added bonues.

It is one of my all time favourite detector/coil combinations,it is slightly heavier than normal but i can swing it for a long time without the need of a harness, build quality is superb and also it pinpoints very well,it is bigger than the stock coil but as the bottom rod connects to the middle of the coil rather than the rear of the stock coil it does balance well.

It is far better coil than the horrible White Elephant 15'' coil that Teknetics produced and could not sell mainly due to the massive weight, the NEL Storm coil is not even close to the weight of the 15'' coil,i really enjoy this coil and it stays on the T2 most of the time these days.

My whte elephant is starting to develop insecurities as it never gets to go out.

Thanks for the info. I had been considering the Storm. Anything bigger you start to lose sensitivity to the smaller objects like pistol bullets, half dimes, etc. Mark

Does the white elephant perform well? Is its only downfall the weight and price? Recently they have been lowered to $89 and I am thinking of getting one but I want to know if it gets a couple inches deeper on coins our if it stabilizes the audio and vdi on deeper targets better.

The 15'' coil does go deeper and not bad really on small finds either.

But unless you want to swing one of these things around all day then i would suggest trying one 1st if possible.

Myself and most folks who have bought one either dont use them or cannot sell them, that is why they are desperately trying to off load what stock they have left as cheap as possible, they must be making a loss on each coil for sure.
