Last 2 good finds. Is 14k stamped on anything but gold?

Found a nice barber dime at 5 inches. Also got this mexican medallion. It has 14k stamped on the backside. The color is darker and its a really hard metal. Could it be gold? My first instinct is it is not, but what would 14k mean?

Nice Barber. The medallion is definetly not gold. Looks like bronze. I can't remember if jewelers bronze is designated in karats.

THat foreign concerns strictly follow our designations. Someone recently posted a ring with 18K that was definately not gold. It could have been that your medallion was electroplate.

That someone was me and it's still a ring.....

Yeah there's a lot of thiose foreign made HGE rings floating around with karat stamps on them. Fairly easy to fool most consumers unless they're up to snuff on this stuff.
