Last 2 hunts - oldest coin, mystery copper, and relics!

Hey all,

Posting up my finds from the previous 2 weekends... fortune has smiled upon me lately!
Last Sunday found me soloing an couple of cellar holes that I'd never been to before. I didn't spend much time at either, but managed a few cool relics.
1) brass musket barrel band
2) what I've been told is likely a brass sword hanger, circa early-mid 1800s
3) a lady's gold plated sash buckle.

Fast forward to this Sunday! I really was unaware of what I had until I spent a few days carefully cleaning these old coppers.

1) George II half penny, young head variety. 1729-1739. My oldest coin by almost 100 years Smile
2) What is believed (by someone with greater knowledge than myself) to be a blacksmith token... a counterfit of a 1835 Ships, Colonies, and Commerce token. It is paper thin... 27mm in diamter, and only 2.7 grams. These are quite rare! Unfortunately, very little detail remains, but just enough to ID it. If you look closely you can see the S in Ships, the S in Colonies, and the last E in Commerce.
3) Mid-late 1800s merchant token... "Good for $1 in Trade". Pretty neat to find... it is from a general merchant in a town a few miles from our site.
4) Clock key! Heavy brass... not sure of the age, but based on the finds around it, I'd estimate mid 1800s.
5) Flat buttons... 2 Treble Orange, London, and 1 Best Quality, London. No detail on the front, but I love finding any buttons!

Also managed silver #4 for the year... a 1940 quarter, and a 1912 Canadian large cent. Both kind of modern for this site! Several other knick knacks as well, but these were the best finds.

All finds were made with the Coiltek Digger! Having a hard time taking it off my machine :)

Outstanding! :clapping:
I'd be going back to those sites and spending a bit more time.

Great hunt! Those are some really old finds! I love finding old relics like that. I bet there is more! Need any help?

Been back there several times, Longhair :) We have wide open permission on a lot of land there... will be hitting it all season! This is the same place I found the 1828 and 1835 tokens from my previous post... and several other old coins and relics :) it just keeps giving and giving!

Some interesting finds....totally out of my realm of MDing, no cellars around here and farm land is too far inland to consider, besides the heat right now would kill me.
Good luck on future outings, hope you score some more nice goodies.

WOW, now them are some really out coins and other things. congrat's

Here in Iowa I do not find many of those flat buttons but when I do it's just about as much fun as finding the 1800's coins.

Nice job on the King George!
