Plans for the first Best O' North East or as some call it, Best O' New England, (BONE) is a treasure hunters weekend, which started organizing in 1993. The 1st event was a Saturday show & banquet on Jan 29 & 30, 1994. At first we had natural hunts on Sundays. Soon the natural hunts, changed to open hunts on Sundays.
BONE originally was as a Saturday & Sunday event. 13 years ago, Jeannie Wrisley started cooking a Roast Pork Supper for us on Friday nights & we became a 3 colander day event.
In 2007 NH Bob offered to do a Natural Hunt with a Gold coin Prize for St Jude Children's Research Hospital. It was a success & he is doing it again this year.
In 1995 we changed the BONE dates to the last full weekend in April. In January of 2007, we changed the BONE dates to the 3rd weekend in April. This one is the last BONE. No BONE weekend is planned for 2009. Other activities sponsored by the PTHHS as a result of fund raising efforts will include an occasional natural and or mystery hunts, cookouts, and an annual pig roast & Christmas dinner.
There are still a few openings left in the Natural Hunt
