Happy New Year!
We had some nice weather yesterday - in the mid 50's and sunny. So, after I finished my volunteer work I HAD to get out and swing the V3i.
Recently an old ranch house (built in the early 1900's) was taken down and the lot cleared. Sometimes too much of the "good dirt" is removed and hauled away. I think that was the case with this site. But there is always something good left behind. I spoke with the owner who lived next door and he said that nearly a foot of ground had been removed. There weren't too many finds to be made in the center of the lot so I concentrated on the perimeter. I've always had good luck hunting near curbs and I did this time as well. Aside from the wheat cents and the few pieces of silver, I dug a couple of interesting finds: a Lone Star button. Unfortunately the back is missing. And a corroded bronze or copper token that reads "Merchants of Port Angeles Washington". The reverse has some lettering on it but the corrosion is thick and at this time unreadable. The 1940 Nazi coin and some of the wheat cents were dug at a different site a couple weeks ago. On both occasions I was using the V3i with the 6X10 coil and a modified High Trash program. Best of luck in 2014 and...
