Last hunt of 2013

The ground thawed enough to get in a field hunt today so I took the Digger coil to a spot I've hit many, many times before, this spot is an iron infested nightmare to hunt but I've found some great stuff here and thought it would be a good spot to try out the new coil. I started out in All Metal with the sens. at 18 on the 505 but after a half hour of finding nothing I dropped the sens. down to 13 , wow what a differance this made, my first target was a 1853 LC also found a 1880 IH and my first silver three cent which is to worn to get a date but I'll take it . I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with this coil I've hit this spot hard over the last four years and would have sworn there wasn't another LC to be found, can't wait to take it some of my other hunted out sites to see what I can find !!..Thanks for looking and HH.

WOW, a 3 cent silver. that's one on my to find list.

That was a great hunt for the last one of the year, congrat's

:clapping: Great way to end a season! Nice finds!
And congratulations on renewing your old sites with the Digger!

I really like that button myself.

I wonder how turning down the sens. helped find them unless they were on top of iron and turning it down stopped it from going too deep and reaching the iron ?

Way to go out with a bang! Sure beats my last outing for the year (yesterday) when I got goose egg! I'm starting off the new year right though, I'm picking up my Digger coil tomorrow!

The silver 3 cent pieces were only made a couple of years, I lucked into 2 of them over the years. 1850 and 1851 if I recall correctly are the ones that I have, I think they only made them one other year than that.

I found a 1853 Trime this year ... I think the years were 51, 52, 53 then they changed them from 54-73 ... either way they are hard to find

I think with the sens. higher the iron in the first few inches masked out the deeper targets, once I dropped it the coil was able to pick up on these targets better, kind of like using your high beams in the fog..at least thats my best guess .

Wow a three cent silver. I want to find one of those. Congratulations.

I had the same experience while using my 6" HF coil on my 705. Came into the iron with sensitivity at 21 and could only hear a solid blanket of iron. Lowered the sensitivity to 13 and coin signals started coming through. Dug five wheats and a rosie in short order.
