Latest Opinions on the Garrett Z-Link?

MikeK

New member
Hello: After its release a year or so ago, I'm hoping to get some learned opinions on the success (or failure) of the Z-Link system from those who've used it. I'm aware of the other, less expensive systems, but I'd rather stick with Garrett's customer service...if this thing works, that is. I can't find much other than the early YouTube videos put out by Garrett or its "affiliated" folks. I use both the AT Gold and the Teknetics T2.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've had it since it came out. It works very well. Since I did get an early version, I did have a problem with the transmitter dying on me. No problem, got a new one very quickly.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy the Z-Link system again if I had to.

It is a very popular wireless system, which works on most metal detectors. I used mine a lot on the gold, ACE 400 and Pro.

John: I believe your video was the first one I'd watched, a year ago. It was a great one and is what started me thinking about the system, I figured I'd wait for the YouTube videos to pour in and the forums to light up with comments. A year has passed and...tumbleweeds. While there have been reviews posted on YouTube, independent ones are surprisingly few; those are equally divided between success and failure of the Z Link. While Dan B's review (thanks Dan) is ultimately a thumbs up, the narrative seems common with a failure of some kind. Were there early design/production bugs that have been fixed or is this still a hit or miss proposition? I can envision getting one that works, only to have it die right after the warranty period has run...
I'm not usually this cautious as a purchaser, but this one baffles me.

I have a hearing loss and I have been searching for years for the best way to hear the metal detector. During my search I have tried several wireless brands and they have all faded away except for the Z-Link system. This system has proven to be the best volume, best audio, and most reliable wireless system I have tried. With the past systems, at about 40F they would start becoming unreliable. I have used the Z-Link system at 27F with no problems. I no longer use hand warmers under covers I made for my detectors. I bought two 1/4 inch plug Z-Link systems and two M3 headphones, one of which came with the AT-Max, and these have been the best wireless systems I have had. If you need a wireless system, don’t waste anymore time. Buy one of the Z-Link systems.
