I went out the other day to a local park, got a signal but was having a hard time pinpointed it. After I got into the ground I found six quarters all in the same hole with no other change. I have found pocket dumps many times but mostly other change involved.

I found at stack of 13 Indiana state quarters a few years ago. They were neatly stacked and still had remnants of the paper wrapper. I guess they were lost in our church's parking lot during the winter and plowed up onto the grass. There's a bank right across the street too. I rarely find more than two quarters at a time. Now, if they were just silver...

Congrats on the coin spill!

BACK IN THE MID 1970'S I HAD A GARRETT DISCRIMINATOR METAL DETECTOR BEFORE I SOLD IT. WHAT TOOK THE PLACE OF FINDING COINS WAS A JOB I GOT THAT REQUIRED ME TO GO COLLECT COINS FROM THE COIN OPERATED LAUNDRIES IN APT. COMPLEXES IN THE GREATER HOUSTON, TEXAS AREA, ANYWHERE FROM 6 TO 8 FELLOW WORKERS DRIVING 1/2 TON CHEVY TRUCKS RUNNING 6 DAYS A WEEK ON A SCHEDULED ROUTE . WE HAD A MOUNTED TOOL BOX ON THE BACK OF THE TRUCK W/A LOCK BOX, KEYS THAT FIT ONLY EACH INDIVIDUAL TRUCK LOCATED ON A BLOCK OF WOOD BACK AT THE SHOP WHERE WE RETURNED DAILY. WE COLLECTED ANYWHERE FROM 20-30 LAUNDRY ROOMS A DAY--( SOMETIMES $6000.00 TO $10,000.00 IN QUARTERS) IN & OUT OF THE COMPANY TRUCK MANY TIMES. IN THOSE SOMETIMES HOT (NO A/C) LAUNDRY ROOMS WERE AN AVERAGE OF 8 WASHER & 4 DOUBLE LOAD DRYERS. OUR JOB WAS TO COLLECT THE MONIES & CLEAN OUT THE LINT TRAPS WHERE THE LINT PILED UP IN THE LOWER COMPARTMENT OF THE DRYER THAT WAS UNLOCKED W/ A KEY (ONLY 1 KEY OF ABOUT 200 KEYS THAT WE WOULD WALK INTO EACH LAUNDRY ROOM WITH) LAYER UPON LAYER OF LINT WOULD PILE UP UNTIL SOMEONE CLEANED IT OUT. IN THOSE LINT TRAPS IS WHERE I FOUND THE $$$$$$$$$$ THAT I GOT TO KEEP--THE QUARTERS WERE THE COMPANY'S--MY FINDS WERE MINE TO KEEP ---ANYTHING THAT A PERSON PUT INTO THEIR POCKETS IS WHERE I WOULD FIND-----COINS, RINGS, SOLID ROPE GOLD CHAINS, BILLS--1'S, 5'S, 10'S. 20;S & THREE (3) DIFFERENT TIMES I FOUND THE $100.00 BILL. I WOULD MANY TIMES GO TO WORK WITH NO $$$$$ IN THE POCKET, BUT THE LINT TRAP FINDS WOULD CARRY ME THRU AND THEN SOME. THIS JOB LASTED ABOUT 5 1/2 YEARS BEFORE I LEFT THIS COMPANY BECAUSE OF THE BAD ECONOMY TIMES BACK IN THE LATE 1980'S--I FOUND BROKEN GOLD CHAINS & BITS & PIECES OF GOLD THAT I WOULD SEPARATE FROM BETTER GOLD--COMPLETE GOLD BRACELETS--ROPE CHAINS--RINGS-- ETC. THAT I ALSO SOLD. AT ONE TIME IN ONE SMALL CONTAINER I HAD COLLECTED .076 POUND OF GOLD THAT I SOLD AT THE TIME FOR $350.00 AN OUNCE. THAT JOB IS NOW CLOSED SHOP BUT THE MEMORIES REMAIN--I NOW HAVE A FISHER 1236 X2 & AM LONGING FOR THE GOOD OLD DAYS. SUCH IS LIFE.
