Lead Mystery Items

I have been working an older house site, I am unsure of its age but only that it Predates 1900. I have been trying to get a better idea on date based off of finds, but not much luck as yet. Hoping these mystery lead items might help. They are NOT musket balls, I have found several musket balls on the site, but that's not what these are, they appear to be a Cap of sorts that went over a nail??? They are made from lead and one still has some iron inside of it. They are about the size of a dime and all rounded onto with an indentation on the other side as if they were pressed over a nail. Any ideas on what they would have been used for and possible time period? Thanks for the help guys!

They are lead nail washers used on roofs to help seal the nail from leaks

We used them in the 1960's for our tin sheds.
