Hello All. I am getting cranky about not being able to get out and do some detecting. I badly bruised my right ankle & foot the day before Christmas and I am grounded. It

Stan, your a man with tenacity and ingenuity. I admire you for going out at night, (even though there could be ghosts and goblins), or at least (bad guys), depending on where you go,:|, but that's very creative. It looks like it would be pretty darn bright, which is definitely what you need at night. I have a head lamp that helps to just see where your going, but it's not terribly bright and I don't think it would light up the detector face like yours would. Good job, and, maybe I'll try and build one myself in the future. I'm a little poor and pretty busy, right now, but it's great for the beaches at night because all the crowds are gone at night. Take care, Marc Trainor.

Hello Stan, There is a similar set up shown on this post http://www.findmall.com/read.php?22,293525,300238#msg-300238
(if it opens) it is from the detector modifications forum.

Hi Stan, sorry to hear about your ankle and foot. Nothing more terrible than to be out of action, and be able to go detecting! I did my ankle out bush a few years ago. Climbing down a steep embankment in the scrub, when I landed on my right foot and it twisted underneath itself, and I felt a crunch. I never knew what pain was until then! I didn't break it, but tore all the ligaments around the ankle, and in my foot. Boy did it swell up. My son, who fortunately was there at the time, dragged me out, going uphill of all things. To this day, I get a little paranoid when I'm out bush about landing on my foot wrongly, so I'm extra careful. I think there's still a weakness there.

We have a security guard downtown one of the places I deliver and he did the same thing, and said it hurt like (you know what). He said it's almost worse than a break because it takes so long for it to heal. He's doing better but it's been months since it happened. Take care, and watch those "jumps".:|
