I just love it! I'm one of those weirdos that has been listening to Christmas music for awhile now. Am I alone here? Actually, I must confess to listening in moderation all year long!! Lol. What is everyones favorite Christmas song? Do you tend to listen only to sacred or do you also enjoy secular music? I mostly listen to traditional and bluegrass....just feels homey and reverant to me;) Here's a couple of my favs, hope y'all enjoy.

Count me in too! Up here we have a radio station that usually starts Christmas music on Thanksgiving till Christmas. I found that they have started it up about two weeks ago. I love Christmas music and this time of year. I like most of them, including all the classics.

Thank you Liz, for the songs, singers and memories, although my eyes are full of tears and trying my best not to cry, because you are where I once was with a family, home, listening to Christmas music of all kinds while writing Christmas cards to send and baking cookies and making fudge and lots of candies! The songs about the truth of why we celebrate Christmas sure elated me up spiritually, but those years are past and Thanksgiving and Christmas Days aren't always shared with my family, but usually my sister-in-law Wanda has us over to her house when she can, as she is a busy woman working and baby sitting small grandchildren...she is getting older too by being born in 1950 and not having the energy she once had! The cookie song and pics were just beautiful and I remember decorating them myself so many times for Christmas! Christmas reminds me of my grandmother on dad's side, as she was such a good cook and made the best fudge a person ever tasted and I was loved a lot by her! Thank you, again, and I've saved the video's to my Favorites! The best and the merriest of Thanksgiving and Christmas with our Lord's blessings to you, Travis and Loren! Amen! Ma Betty

Liz, Beautiful Star of Bethlehem has ALWAYS been my favorite Christmas song - all of my life. It's not a song that is often heard though. I have this same Judds version that I wear out every year (sometimes I play it all year long). I like all types of Christmas music. The station I listen to started playing it 24/7 on Halloween day. I have a few songs that I DO NOT like though. I wont share them here because I'd probably get boo'ed off the forum. lol

I thought you might be a weirdo, too! I have Christian friends who get so ticked when the music starts playing 24/7 and I don't get that....oh well.

Awe, Ma. I'm glad you liked the songs and it's good to reminisce sometimes I'm sure. As much as I love this season, I always feel a bit of loneliness when I think of my dear loved ones who are absent from our celebrations. I must admit, you have me pegged, Ma! You describe the very environment I try so hard to create at Christmas time. Lots of homemade goodies, gifts from the heart, Christmas music all through the house, etc. This week, we will put together a gingerbread house and make Christmas cookies. I know y'all think I am jumping the gun here, but with my schedule the next month, I have to be creative. This week we have drs appointments and thanksgiving, next week I have final exams, Loren has her surgery on the 14th of December and will be recovering right up til Christmas day.. I have no choice but the get in gear!

Yes, Lisa...no ugly Christmas songs on our forum. It just wouldn't do..lol! How about our favorite song being the same!?! Do you like the Judd's version or Patty Lovelace? I can't chose.

sent out cards and decorated the tree and shopped for gifts which I always seemed to wait the last minute to wrap! I did Thanksgiving and Christmas for the family when it was my turn! I enjoyed cooking special things to eat and copied a lot of the foods my grandmother always had when we visited with her! Enjoy while you have your families and rejoice in the Lord for these special times for it was Jesus Who gave them to us in His love and mercy! Amen! :angel; Ma Betty

Now things are beginning to REALLY get weird between us!!!! We have the same favorite Christmas song... on top of all of the other things we have in common??????? Wow. I like both versions (Patty Lovelace & The Judds). I think my favorite version is whichever one I'm listening to at the time. lol I guess if I just HAD to choose I'd probably choose the Judd's... but it really doesn't matter to me; I just love the song.

As for the songs I DO NOT like, they aren't ugly in any way, I just don't like them. Little Drummer Boy is at the top of the DO NOT like list. That whole "The ox and lamb kept time" thing gets under my skin. I also do not like Do You Hear What I Hear. I'm not a big fan of Silent Night or Away in a Manger, but I can tolerate them. The Twelve Days of Christmas is most definitely OUT!!! And I refuse to listen to The Christmas Canon (the one by Transiberian Orchestra... the one with the childrens choir). I change the station every time it comes on.

My favorites are Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, O Holy Night, The First Noel, and then a whole bunch of the secular ones. I also really like this one too:

Hmmm...I pretty much agree with you, Lisa. I don't like the Christmas Canon either, although I love, love, love Canon in D. Love it so much in fact, it was the processional in our wedding. I'm a sucker for classical meets new age as I studied classical piano for so long. Away in a Manger is one of my favorites, so we aren't exactly alike! Lol.

I love this one, too...

And this one:

and finally, one that truly makes my heart sing!!! Christmas classics interwoven beautifully in classical masterpieces. I would give anything to have this sheet music!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving service at church. Many family and friends to worship with and fellowship afterwards. My son played his horn to "Worthy is the Lamb" with the worship team. My adopted daughter sang a special song ( Your Love is Extravagant ) by Casting Crowns. A great night.

we got it on video.
