Let's have a in depth talk about the T2

I've been a Garrett user for a long time now and have tried Whites and Fishers. I've been waiting for Garrett to make a new top of the line detector for a good while now. The GTI 2500 is a good detector but is getting old. From what I've been reading the T2 is one of the best detectors to come out in a few years. And the F75 is just about the same detector.
So what set's this detector a part from the others like the 2500,DFX,ect.... Is the depth on target's that good? Coins at 12-14". I know how much hype comes along from detector users and their brand of detector. I'm looking for straight up answers from those who have used this detector for sometime. It just might be my next detector. I relic and coin hunt and think this could be a good choice.

Thanks

If you read this forum top to bottom, you'll learn about everything there is to know about the T2. Then you can make your choice as to whether you want to get one or not. It's up to you.

having had a t2 since there release in the u.k i can honestly state that its one of the deepest detectors out there today ,using it in the u.k on contaminated fields large coins and artefacts reguarly come in at incredible depths ,i.e i had a large copper bank token today from at least 15 inchs down it was laying on the sand hardpack ,incredible machine you won't go wrong

id have to say if you a coin hunter the f-75 or f-70 may be better, the t-2 has a wider iron resolution, which is more favorable to relics

I have to agree with you on this one. I never use my T2 for anything else but relic hunting, it's an iron killer for sure!!!

I purchased a Garrett GTI-2500 in 2001 and used it regularly until I acquired a T2 last year. After two outings where I tried both detectors out I made the T2 my primary detector and my 2500 my backup. I mostly relic hunt, though I do enough coin shooting to want a good coin detector. The T2 is superior to the 2500, for me, in several ways. It is very light, I can swing it all day. It reaches targets as deep or deeper than the 2500. And it is excellent separating the good signals from the trash. I prefer the 2500 over the T2 on the beach, but everywhere else, the T2 is my preferred detector. Just my point of view for what it is worth.

i second that statement about the t-2 on the beach. my $199.00 f-2 is a way better machine than the t-2 in salt water and its even superior to the ace-250 at the ocean.

I have no experience with the Garett but I can tell the experience I have with the T2. First there is a learning curve that I feel people give up on before they get the full potential from this machine. When you first try it it sounds like a musical instrument sounding off. It hits every target. This is probably where most of the dissenters stop with the machine. You have to put the time in to learn what the machine is telling you. The sweep speed is fast allowing you to cover more ground and the target separation response is very quick. I had to keep my eyes glued to the TID when I started to make sure I didn't miss a good signal. The T2 has several choices on the number of tones which correspond to the type of target. I hunt for coins and relics and am very satisfied when hunting either. As far as depth, I have recovered a Civil War button at around 12 inches after recieving a consistent solid signal without headphones. I would say the T2 will detect deeper than most of us care to dig. I have gone back over areas I covered with previous detectors and found numerous items missed. Too many to write it off as operator error. I have also gone over areas detected by some of the above mentioned detectors and recovered targets they missed. Is it a better detector than the Garrett 2500? I don't know. I do know it is the best detector I have ever used and some of my friends who own White's and Fishers call it a "cheater detector" because of the items I recover.

i have had mine about a year. i did all right with it in one new place i hunted. but i have hit every place that i hit with my minelab soverign and all i have found is one wheat penny. i love it for coin hunting but just can't seem to get anything deep with it. thanks.
