Level of ground mineralization?

I've got Andy's book, read several forums regularly, and look for other articles & videos regarding the Deus. Often there is advice about how to tweak settings based on ground that is "lightly" mineralized vs. "heavily mineralized", but I do not recall seeing definitions of those. And what I mean by definition, really, is how do you relate that to what the GB indicates? So, what I would love to see is something that relates what a properly derived manual GB value means in terms of the relative mineralization of the surrounding area.

For example (and I am just making this up):
* Manual GB > 81 is lightly mineralized soil
* Manual GB > 70, but < 80, is moderately mineralized soil
* Manual GB <70 is heavily mineralized soil

Has anyone seen a table or something similar to that? Is there something that I'm no understanding about relative levels of mineralization (other than I'm oversimplifying, and mineralization levels can/do change even within a relative small hunting ground)? Anyone have any insights on how to relate the GB values to level of mineralization?

Thanks,
Rich

The GB number is a phase angle reading. It depends on the conductivity of the ground, not the amount of mineralizarion. The amount of mineralizarion is indicated in the vertical bar on the right hamd edge of the screen.

Hey Rick,
That phrasing looks familiar, but I will confess that I do not fully understand what that means. Can you explain further? And can you explain how that level of mineralization then impacts the appropriate GB setting?

For example, I know that when GB is set to tracking, as the bar fills up, it adjusts. And when in manual GB, the literature says to watch if the bar starts to grow, and adjust GB as appropriate. So clearly there is a correlation. I say clearly, but perhaps I am jumping to conclusions. But there is something I'm not getting.

Is there some other, non-MDing, analogy you can come up with? Perhaps there is a parallel situation that would help me grasp what I'm not understanding here.

Thanks!
Rich
