Life is a BEACH !!!.....

OK , so I'm using my new setup on the Safari and running "All Metal " and in Ferrous mode , and taking out from -7 down to -10 , and taking out 40 .....I am running at "Automatic Sensitiviy " and High Trash Density .....MUCH better than the other way I had it set up ...I pulled many more coins today including a Silver Quarter and a Rosie dime .....Then we moved over to the beach for my first Beach hunt with the Safari ....I was right in the swing of things and was locating a bunch of clad , and on the low end I kept digging Pull Tabs that were coming in at the number 15 ....I must have dug 30 of these things because they sounded so good ....My buddy had his E Trac and as much as I complained about pull tabs , he kept telling me DIG EVERYTHING when at the beach !!....Toward the end of the day I was very tired, and did not want to dig another pull tab ......As we were walking to go home , my buddy was swinging beside me about 10 ft away and we were swinging while walking toward the area where we left the car .... I was very tired and my last beep was of course a #15 darn pull tab .....I stopped and 4 wayed it , and it was a good solid tone , but I kept walking ....My buddy said " What was it ? " ....I said " it was another darn pull tabl .....He said " Go back and dig it , you always dig a good tone at the beach " ...I said " Go ahead , you can have my last pull tab !!! " and then I laughed ......He went back and dug it while I kept walking for the car as I was ready to sit down and relax ...I then heard him say " You're gonna be pissed " .....I turned around and out of his sand scoop he pulled a big fat Wedding Band !!!.....I said to him " I thought my gold was gonna be 14 or lower !!!!" .......He said , "It's not Gold ....It's Platinum " ...........My first beach hunt , and I let a Platinum Wedding Band go to my buddy who told me OVER AND OVER to DIG EVERYTHING THAT SOUNDS GOOD !!!.......So guys, don't make the same dumb mistake that I did ......if it sound good DIG EVERYTHING !!!!!!!!!!.......In one hand I am so mad at myself, but in another hand , I was warned , and he has helped me TREMENDOUSLY getting started metal detecting and has set me up with a lot of goodies to help me along ....I'm glad that he took the time to dig it , and glad that he has it in his possesion and not somebody else getting it .......Karma !!!!.......Jim

Man that sucks.
Were you hunting a salt water beach or fresh water?
I'm hoping to get out tomorrow, had to go computer shopping today(didn't buy one yet) as my Daughters 7 year old Mac Laptop finally died, and then put up 70 retaining wall bricks for my raised perennial bed. I am freaking tired and now I have to put together an Elliptical. Oh yeah, bought a used Total Gym at a Yard Sale today for 25 bucks. My wife and I have been working out since last October as she had a stroke. Kinda wakes you up and says, Get off your fat ass and get in shape before you die young. She has lost 50 pounds and I have lost 29. Now we need to do some muscle toning.

Dan,
It was a saltwater beach ... Yeah, it was no fun, but a valuable lesson learned .....Sorry to hear of your wifes stroke .....I too am battling te bulge ...Part of how I got into detecting ... I also kayak fish ....I'm trying to incorporate things that I LIKE to do into some sort of exersize ...... It's better than sitting in front of a computer screen all day .... I applaud you and your wife for your efforts ..... It's not easy , and get's harder the older you get.....Keep at it .....Good Luck !!!.....Jim

I wouldn't have dug it either. If it was 5" down in wet sand I would, but not a shallow signal in the soft stuff near the parking lot no way. The odds of a ring vs pulltab there is way too high. If I was to dig all that stuff in the soft sand I would never make it from my car to the beach!

Your buddy was right this time but I am not too keen on the idea of digging all signals all the time, nope not me.
