Lithium ion batteries for F4 ?

HouliSR

New member
Will the F4 operate properly on 600mAh lithium ion batteries ? I can't find much information as to what kind of performance to expect from rechargables.
I had only used my F4 a few times before the weather shut me down. But the alkalines have lost enough charge to make me think rechargables might be worth the investment.

The mah rating is the reserve power of the battery, sort of like the Cold Cranking Amps in a car battery.
The main concern is the proper voltage! So,
Rechargeable vs Regular
D, for D
C, for C
AA for AA
AAA for AAA
9V for 9V
Have the correct operating voltage for all the newer detectors that I know of.

I use rechargeable's in ALL my detectors and I keep a set of regular batteries for backups. If I'm out and my rechargeable's goes dead then I drop in my backups until I can get back and recharge my main batteries.

Another note, for rechargeable's these days I only buy the LSD (Low Self Discharge) type

Here are the batteries I started using. I got them from batteryjunction dot com. They holdup real well and for a two pack the price is right, these and one of the simple smart chargers and your good to go!

I know they are LOTS of other good battery choices, and I'm sure others will post up their battery and charger choices.

I have not seen Lithium Ion rechargeable AA size in 1.5V

The AA non-rechargeable Li-ion sizes are 1.5V and will work fine in your detector (as opposed to rechargeable NiCad & NiMH AA size at 1.2V that work but shorter than the 1.5V non-rechargeable).

DO NOT INTERCHANGE THE AA SIZE 3.7V Li-ion BATTERIES FOR 1.5V AA BATTERIES!!!!!

Sorry - I see the F4 uses 9V. Different animal. But there is still the AA danger with the 3.7V AA rechargeables for other detectors - why would they do that?
