First of all I have been having problems with the connector on the coil to the power head,doesnt seem to be pluging in well enough.3 times over the weekend I had to disconnect and plug it back in again?? Always happened on initial start up??.Anyway got out to my favorite field of quarters and managed to scratch another one out of the ground.What really gets me about this place is the coins are so deep I believe I am missing the dimes,I manage to get the wheaties but am missing the dimes.The ring is a .9 something and the back of the watch says 'good luck from hopp' well dont seem like they had very good luck as the watch ended up in the middle of this field!!!...sens.80 disc.6 3h tonei.s Bp mode...thanx for looking...hh rick in m

Didja try shifting over to the other coil for a while? Sometimes that helps. I am going over old ground I covered many times with the 'new' Troy X3 and its close to virgin ground! I really think it is a matter of different machines (coils, too) seeing targets differently that accounts for that more than it is 'better' than my F75SE or CZ5. I have done a fair amount of hunting with that setting. Sometimes I go over the same area in All Metal just to see if I missed anything cutting small iron.

pasttom I have ran the 5 inch coil it works great with all the trash and emi am dealing with but just dont get the depth like the 11" so it seems to be a trade off besides I would rather find silver quarters than dimes anyway LOL. Mud my heart was pounding when I got that solid 93 tone HAHA....hh rick in mi.

I don't know that you lose all that much depth with the 5 and I think a lot of silver is masked and the smaller coil will see it when the 11 won't. But it is both and not either or. Clean up with the 5 and go back deep with the 11 later.
Changing the variables frees more finds. Yes, the 5 requires more swings to cover the same ground but it still sees through trash better and you can run it hotter 'cuz it is less effected by EMI and is less effected by multiple targets. It processes less datum so it recovers quicker and can be swung faster.

I didn't like the connector on mine either. I had to push hard on it to make sure it was all the way up tight. You can see where it needs to be to be on all the way.

Pasttom I agree 100% about the 5 inch coil,just need to give it another try I guess.Rick I have never had this problem with the coil connecters,after more than 2 seasons use,just threw it out there to see if anyone else has expierenced this problem before.......hhh rick in mi.

Nice silver. Heck I would take silver qrts over dimes any day.
