 New Years Eve for my area

This was online posted :D,I thought it was funny tho ;),and yes lots of folks shoot their guns on the 4th of July and New Years ...not me tho :D

Bowman warns against shooting fireworks and guns in the air.

Just don't do it, the chief said.

"If you can welcome the New Year without fireworks, I say fantastic," Bowman said. "In case you haven't noticed, it's horribly dry outside. We have the dead leaves on the ground and the grass has been killed by the frosts and freezes of late. Anything that explodes or shoots through the air can start these on fire."

Firefighters have been responding to quite a few brush and wild land fires recently, he said.

"People partying with fireworks will only make the situation worse," Bowman said. "Do everyone a favor and bang on some pots instead."

The chief added that shooting guns in the air at midnight is not wise, either.

"We have gravity on this planet and these bullets will fall to Earth," he said. "They can damage property or hit people and hurt them, too."

The chief said his last words of advice for tonight is a no-brainer. "Don't drink and drive," he said. "Take a cab or use a designated driver. Make a good decision early and don't let a bad decision ruin your life or someone else's life. You don't even have to bang on pots to get this one right."

Fireworks are not allowed in Sumter County tonight, as county commissioners recently declared a local emergency and adopted rules to prohibit all fireworks until further notice.
