Long Island State Park Permit

Is this a permit for metal detecting and is it for all Long Island State Parks or selected ones?

Would love to pay 40.00 dollars to detect in WI PUBLIC PARKS AND WATER, but our DNR (god) has forbid us from detecting on all water ways and public dnr land. Your lucky so far. Good hunting:rant:

the metal detecting permit is for most of the long island state parks here,,,,but,,,their is a catch,,,,out of 12 Long Island State Parks , 4 of them you CANNOT detect them from Memorial day to Labor Day...the others you can, as it is mainly beach areas, shoreline...and on the certain beach parks that allow the metal detecting , you CANNOT detect around Food stands.:nono:..only off season,,,,and to get into these parks during the season , it cost $8.00 ,,,unless you buy a season pass called a Empire Pass for your car, cost ..$65.00 ...a sticker placed on your window OR if you get to the park before 7 AM,,,it's free,,,HH...Tim

They charge you $40 just to swing and here you are helping them clean up the park and they are charging you, the baztards!

In Mass I believe State Parks are off limits....but then again I asked the Park Ranger on duty that day and he said it was okay with him. So was I breaking the law?

I went and got my Long Island State Park permit in New York today and it went up to $40.00.....last year $20.00.....unbelievable,,HH Tim

Does this permit also give you access to the Long Island parks and beaches? Or do you still have to pay $65 for a pass, and/or $8 for parking? I want to swing my MXT at Jones Beach. I'm hoping against hope that the cost will not be prohibitive.

Happy hunting!
