:look: :look: :look: :look: Whats shakin'???

Sorry, off topic here.... was looking through the forum and we got hit with a 5.4 earthquake around 5 AM. Everything in the house was shaking and the TV is alive with local news coverage. We rarely get quakes here, but with the New Madrid fault south of us, it's one of those things always lurking in the back of the mind. It was centered in eastern Illinois - any of you guys over there get shaken out of bed this morning? Oh well, gotta go get some quotes on earthquake insurance

Couldn't figure what was going on until I turned the Weather Channel on. Maybe it shook some silver loose for me to find this weekend!! HH

Just had a pretty hard aftershock at 10:19 AM... It's wierd watching your whole house shake back and forth listening to all the creaking and popping. You guys out in CA must be used to this, but it's a little unsettling for us midwesterners.

We felt the original quake here in Kirkwood, MO. It had sort of a rolling sensation, pictures rattled on the wall, etc, Seemed to last about 30 seconds or so. Did not feel the aftershock, however, which is being reported at 4.5 on the scale...

The original quake knocked a couple things off the shelves here and that was it. I live right on the edge of the Mississippi River flood plain in north county so I might be subject to a little stronger than normal tremors here than in other areas. One more, and every one will be rushing the grocery stores and lining up at the gas pumps!

Actually, out here in CA we get a big kick out of it unless someone gets hurt, of course.

Enjoy nature, much as you can!
