Looking for a better pinpointer

DK

New member
Need y'alls ideas on a better pinpointer(handheld) I have the harbor freight one, but would like to update to one that may pick up better. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I believe the best one out there is the sunray in-line probe. They are expensive but worth it.
The next one would be the vibra-probe. They are nice and waterproof.
Then the Garrett pinpointer. Let me know what one you decide on and I will see what I can find. Do you mind used?

I've tried about every one made. The one I like best is the new Garrett propointer. I've seen steals on them used just recently. I had the Centech and it feels like its going to fall apart unless you treat it gingerly, that's no fun. I like the propointer because its probably the smallest and very durable. I wish you could turn the sound off (it vibrates nicely), but you can cover it up. The "point" could be a bit skinnier, but all-in-all its better than the rest in a lot of ways.

If you want the most sensitive the Treasure mate is probably it. I didn't like the vibraprobe, automax, too big, but the vibraprobe is waterproof. The bullseye is fine. I like how it, the merlin, and the centech function. Adjust once and then instant on when you push the bubton. The propointer you have to wait a second each time you turn it on, but its pretty quick. So, I guess they haven't reached perfection in my book, but at this point its the one I like best.

glad you stopped by. Please do again! :)

I purchased the new Garrett pro-pinpointer in January. It is the best pinpointer you will ever have!! It comes w/ digging tools, pouch and a holder for the pointer itself.

I have tried bulls eye, auto max, and sun ray inline. Last year broke down and got a uniprobe, and now I could never go back. It is kinda like when you switch from 56k dial up to high speed internet. I know it is a lot of money, but you will never have to buy headphones or a probe ever again. I would go as far as to say if you are on a budget like most of us are, spend less on a detector and get a uniprobe. less recovery time = more time swinging the coil = more finds.

Hey Mike, I don't mind used. Who makes the vibra probe. Really only heard of the pro-pointer from Garrett, so any of your expertise would be appreciated.

Vibra-probe is who makes their product. There are several others. The Vibra-probe is kinda big but a good probe, and water proof.
What one are you leaning towards?

Not sure really. Just want to get the most bang for my buck. As I said, my Centec one does ok, but not too well made, and I know it won't last long with as much as I use them. I need something rugged and one that will make me look kinda professional when I come up to the hunt in September.:wiggle: I appreciate your input and help.

I have the new Garrett also. It's the best one I've ever owned. I would buy another one without hesitation... if I needed another one.

:garrett::garrett::garrett::garrett: Okay Dk ... Here's The Scoop!

I've owned many different brands of Pin Pointers and I've NEVER had one that performed as well as the Garrett Pin Pointer. The White's Bull's Eye doesn't even come close! If I'm really desperate, I'll use the White's Bull's Eye. ENJOY YOUR HUNTS! NO MORE GUESSING! BUY THE GARRETT!

Hope you like the forum.

God bless.
