Looking for a good Kid's Detector

Circle C Digger

New member
My daughter would like her own metal detector. My detectors are to big (long) for her to use comfortably. She is just shy of 5ft tall. I would appreciate any input on brands and models that can be used by children.

We mainly go coin shooting.

Thanks.

I have owned and used both the Ace 250 and Prizm 111.Both are great detectors but, I would go with a used Prizm 111 it pinpoints better. The garrett can notch has tone ID and is balanced better and a faster response. If these detectors are bought used you could probably sell them for what you paid if it didn't workout. The classifieds on this forum sometimes has good deals on these detectors. My suggestion would be a Prizm III which has a depth indicator for your young one to know how deep to dig. It is very light weight and very easy to pinpoint.

My nephew who almost stands 5ft tall uses my Prizm IV with great success and it is easy to understand and operate for him.

The Ace 250 may be more difficult to pinpoint and has more notching capability. Overall they are both great detectors.

Hope this is of help in your decision for your daughter.

Who said it was important? No mention about a TID in the original post.
