Looking for best settings for recent drop jewelry

I am helping someone find a recently lost ear ring. I am not sure of the size or metal content, gold or silver I would guess. I have an 11 inch LF coil what would be the best settings to detect surface finds without detecting deeper objects?

Since gold and silver are at opposite ends of the VDI scale, the best thing might be to reduce sensitivity. Get some similar jewelry if you can, put them on the ground and reduce sense as much as possible while still getting a strong signal from your "samples". No disc, not even iron because gold might be in iron's VDI range. That's what I would do FWIW.

Good Luck.

If they have the other ear ring that would be great so that you could set your machine up to find the lost one

Thanks your suggestions helped me tune up my deus on the remaining ear ring. I gave it a go for two hours, no luck. Very big yard The owner appreciated the effort.
