Looking for help with ring

I found this ring today it rang up a solid 44. There are no markings, that I can see, in side.
It also is not magnetic.

I know it is just costume jewlery but was curious what would ring up as 44, yet no markings

Sorry about the blurry pics and I have not cleaned it up yet.
 
My guess would be plated copper.

Cool find! Even if it only looks neat.
 
Never thought of copper, that makes sense. I often get peice of copper pipe that ring up high. Thanks
 
Copper came to mind because of the color where it looks worn in the pic. It could be plated brass too. The sheer mass/density of it has a lot to do with the high ID.

Bury a new 1" steel nut 3" deep and see what it rings up as. :lol:
