Looking for relic hunters in Dubbo nsw Australia

leonne

New member
Hi everyone I have just got into relic hunting and bought myself a Minelab X-Terra 505, I would like to know if there are any people surrounding the Dubbo NSW area who would like to come decting and maybe help me with some pointers. I did contact a group in dubbo but he said they only do Gold detecting and the area's they go are not suitable for relic hunting, so if there is anyone who would like to come prospecting or who knows of some areas around Dubbo I could start please post and let me know.
Cheers Leonne from Dubbo NSW

G'day Leonnie.
There are a few non gold detectorist in town. I mostly park hunt, and the other guys usually get in first :cry::lol:, but I bump into them from time to time and we have a good chat anyway. I could put you onto a possible site or 2, but it won't be any that have been shown by others (out of respect). I'm not much into relic hunting, but if you like, I can run through a few basis with you on the X-Terra. Never used a 505, but have owned the 30 and 70. Not much difference though. There are a number of coach stops around the area. I think that they are spaced out every nine miles. Plenty of old pubs that have burnt down as well. There is a book out about the Cob and Co coaches and there history, that can put you on the right track for finding their locations. There is also a book out about old pubs as well, but it will still take some detective work to find them.
If you like, we can get out for a bit of a detect this week end (for a couple of hours). just let me know. I'll check this thread around mid morning (Sat). Sleeping in.

Sorry I can't send you a private message. I forgot that the forum has a set up that stops new members from doing that. It stops hackers eta.
I just got a call that is going to tie me up for some of this afternoon, however, if you like, we could meet at the cricket nets on Brisbane St tomorrow afternoon (Sunday) at 2:30) It would be a good spot to run through the basics on the X-Terra, plus there is a spot close by that might suite your kind of detecting.
Mick Evans.

there is a book called "the glint of gold"....................I bought it at the Orange tourist centre. It traces the search for gold in your area and hence the chance of relics from long disappeared settlements. One thing for sure Mick will get you well set up with your machine......................Aussie
