Just wondering what you all think about this??? First let me say that this is not directed towards anyone, nor would I ever try to hurt any ones feelings.
If you know me at all, you would know that is true.
We have a Great Christian Metal Detecting Forum here. We even call ourselves family.
In my opinion, we should post about our Christian Faith, metal detecting, prayer requests, our families and the like.
Maybe all the political posts should be posted over at the views forum. That is a good place to vent.
Most of the times when politics are discussed here someone gets mad or hurt. Over at the views forum it is OK to push others buttons etc....
As for all the videos about "O" etc... Not even sure that we are the people that need to see them? most of us feel similar about him.
Now don't forget, we are family, and no one should be hurt or upset about what I just posted. This is not my forum, it is our forum, and this post was meant to help what I think is good for us all.

people getting their feelings hurt on a "Christian" forum. It makes no sense to me. The last post that hurt feelings was not political. It was about Christian happenings in the world and I just don't get it. I'm just gonna be bold here and say that people that always get their feelings hurt and want to run away need to hit their knees and seek the face of God. If we can't take a few differences of opinions on a Christian metal detecting forum how in the world are we gonna survive the wiles of the enemy in this day and time?

I think it would be a very boring forum if we couldn't talk about Christianity, different ideas, things happening in the world etc but that is just my opinion. Whatever the majority or the person in charge says, I'll abide with. Or I'll just run away and post on a regular metal detecting forum. Why not if you can't talk christianty here ?

Remember I was not refering to any posts or persons. Like Travis I was thinking about this for a long time. I am not thinking of the Christian stuff as much as all the politics etc... Don't you go running off either! ya here now!

I don't recall anyone getting their feeling hurt over a political post. Can you tell me one? I do however, know of two instances where someone got mad and got their feeling hurt over a religious post. Both of the ones I can remember were over a discussion about Christianity!!! And if you can't discuss that here, then I really see no reason to be here. As far as metal detecting, the other forums here are much more interesting than this one. I come here because I know the people are Christian and you can read christian ideas, opinions, get food for thought - whether I agree or disagree - I don't get my feelings hurt.

IMO only people who are not mature in Christ Jesus get their feelings hurt. If I leave here, it won't be because I got my feelings hurt - it'll be because there is no longer any reason to be here. Even several of the other forums on here at findmall, people post their prayer request.

Can you honestly tell me of a post that someone got their feelings hur t that was political. If you say the last one that started about Glen Beck - that post was definitely NOT political. It was far more important about what God is doing in the USA.

Call me harsh, I don't care. When people get their feeling hurt over differences in Christian beliefs etc, instead of begging them to stay and not run off, I just want to shout grow up in Christ.

I don't come here to talk Christianity - I like to talk detecting and read what others are doing, knowing they are probably Christians. It is enjoyable to read Christian things here also but over the years it has now weighed greatly on the posts and detecting has slunk into the background.
I rarely post about politics or Christian issues - I know who I am and where I'm going. Why do we have to forget detecting and lay on the personal opinions so heavily ? Maybe if more people were out detecting they wouldn't be so quick to come down on each other.

Well, me son, you can send me a PM, also, as I feel like Theresa does! If Christianity can't be spoken or written concerning a political issue and those in charge of our nation, then I will be leaving....my feelings aren't hurt either.....I just feel like we are being censored about our faith and what is going on in our nation! I am strong enough in my faith not to get offended, but I get bored when I only read very short answers and messages on here! DULLSVILLE! I live alone and I like to have a conservation with others even if it is only by posting messages and answers! If we don't pray and be not afraid of what our faith is and let others know how we feel about the present pres and Congress...then we will have the same Old Thing come Nov.

I don't know why Paul got so upset about Glen Beck, but I didn't see the rally or heard what he and many of them said! I just know if we don't do something then we are a fallen nation and doomed to Muslim captivity under the Shariah Law, which I'm sure the Americans do not want....but we have BO and his cohorts pushing and forcing us to accept their ungodly laws and ways and now the UN is coming in with their disgusting ways, also! I will fight against them in any way I can and if that isn't for this forum, so be it! I don't care for most of the other forums because of some of their words aren't good and I don't like to read nor hear them! Also, too much arguing and I don't care to argue with those who have no Common Sense or any idea what Islam and Communism are like!

Ma always has thoughts and you know that.....since I cannot go detecting and can't post what I believe on this forum, I will just say goodbye also! But Mike in your orginal post you talked about people getting hurt and or mad and as I said the only two times I've seen it lately wasn't about political post. People who are so immature as to get mad and get their feelings hurt and say I won't be back because of that reason are people who are gonna get their feelings hurt REGARDLESS of what we do or don't say. I also agree with Ma Betty that not talking about O is just another form of censorship in the USA and God help us in this land!!!! If Christians don't stand against HIM and what he is all about then we are no better than the world!!! Yeah I know people don't want to hear it. They want us to shut up and let it be but God is raising up a people who won't be silent any longer. If they can't sound their voice for the truth at one place then they just need to move to another place and sound it louder until the "world" runs them away again. That's how I feel!

As I posted, this is not about the Glen Beck post. Mostly that some folks are tired of all the posts about Obama. As for the discussing Christian beliefs, that is part of our forum. We certainly do have people at different levels of faith as one would find in any church. My biggest thing is that we are the only Bible/Jesus that many will ever see. Therefore how we act on a public forum could make a lurker turn away from what they see if we act no different than the world.
Every now and then we get a new poster that has no want to be a part of the family there, they soul reason for posting is to stir up a bees nest. This happened to Lorrain a little over a year ago. We have even had a couple guys come in and post and as far as they were cocerned they were going to be the only one in Heaven with God in the end.
It's not so much that the political posts hurt peoples feelings, some just get tired of seeing them.
The posts about Christian stuff is welcomed. We all need to share in love and care for one another as Christ would.
Again, this was not directed at you or anyone specific, just in general.

Ever thought about those on here who love detecting but aren't ABLE to go out detecting. Yep that's MA Betty and it's me most of the time these days. There are tons of forums on here to talk metal detecting plus this one. I read several of them to see what people are finding etc but I come here for a much different reason.

Well, I really don't know what to say here. IMO, things have seemed a little on the rocky side here on the forum for awhile now. That's why, even though I've had a little more time to post lately, I have chosen not to comment, get involved or post very much at all. I sure don't want to cause any strife or be the reason people get their feelings hurt or run hide because of something someone said.

I have to agree with Theresa and Ma. This should be a place where we can discuss anything at all (within reason), and do so without people blowing up and stomping off because they don't agree with an opinion that has been posted. There have been a few times when I was offended and/or thought someone was being a complete jerk, but what's the point of being a baby about it and running off in the corner to pout? Be big about it, get over it, see it for what it is and move on! No need to hold a grudge, pout or let the devil steal your joy over it. And if you don't want to interact with a particular person, then just don't respond or reply to them - but don't leave the forum over what someone said that you don't agree with. People need to see about getting some kind of skin thickening product!!

Now, as Theresa and Ma said, I don't see any point in being here if we can't act as a family and discuss things. If we can only talk about metal detecting, then there are forums I can learn a lot more from, but this forum is my choice because of being able to talk about almost anything and the feeling of family that we've had. As Ma said, I, Too, have become a little bored and unhappy with the lack of posting, topics, and the short answers. I'm guilty of all of those things myself so I guess I've got no room to complain about any of that. Anyway, if we are going to be limited to metal detecting topics and the occasional prayer request, then I guess I'm gone too. NOT because I'm mad, hurt, offended or any such thing! Simply because I see no reason to be here if we can't share and discuss -and do it without people blowing up and being babies. Life is too short to argue and I'm not the arguing type.

we can discuss much more than detecting and prayer requests. Family, our faith, and those 4 topics encompass so many things to talk about.
Now those are the 4 (and the like that I mentioned) Remember my post was just one looking for thoughts. It was not even a suggestion, just food for thought. If we allow everything with in reason, who is the one who draws the line? I agree, if we don't care for what others are posting, just don't read or reply.
I also feel strong that we should always post (in love) as Christ would have us. Arguing and strife amongst us is just what some are looking for. Don't give the devil the pleasure. Remember we are not the only ones reading these posts. We are the only Bible/Jesus that some will ever see.

There is no other forum like this one. Like all other families we are having a bump in the road right now.

If you can't detect, you can still enjoy the forum. I too came here as I seen that I could fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ, and share about detecting also. Those two things are good stuff!

I was not refering to the two posts from lately, this has been going on for years. I agree that we as a Christian nation need to stand and do what we can to get this nation back on track. But to post all that here are we not kinda preaching to the congregation? If I tell you that BO is not good and etc.... and I know that you already know this, how many more times can I tell you the same stuff before you get tired of me telling you about him? I think we need to go out and spread the word outside of the church. No different than if I posted about electrolosis every other day, people would get tired of that.
My original post as stated did not have to do with any one post, person, or incident. It was just food for thought.

When it comes to posting political ideas, news, and or other things concerning the way our government is being run, I as guilty. I do so in the hope that 'OTHERS', who visit our Christian forum, will walk away with thoughts and or feelings differently than what they'd get elsewhere. Like many of you, I'm sick and tired of hearing about President Obama but with elections ~ both state and federal ~ coming up, it's important we stay focused. As far back as I can remember, I have felt that Christians in America have been far too complacent. Seldom have I witnessed my brothers and sisters, in Christ Jesus, being proactive politically. It's a shame we haven't been because our complacency has brought about the present political situation our country's in today. From my point of view, if we continue to do what we've done, we'll continue to get what we've got! We call ourselves Christian but none of us are as radical as Christ was when He was here on this planet! Following Christ is far more than a once a week (or less for some) church service. And if there are those who would prefer I didn't post a short lesson out of God's Word each day, by all means let me know and I'll use the time to do something else that may be more productive.

Yes! I want to read more about metal detecting and, for the most part, that's what this particular forum is designed to be. Admittedly I don't get out to hunt as often as I would like to but that's because of the crazy weather we've had here in west Michigan. It's been wet, hot, humid, dry, and now wet again and I'm longing for the more reasonable weather of the fall season. More and more I've sought out older properties to hunt and, as a result, I've coming away with better finds but with the cost of gasoline going through the roof, I'm going less. My focus, in metal detecting, has been to educate those new to the hobby of metal detecting and that's precisely why I've created the 'On-Line Only' website of River City Treasure Club. Rarely do I hunt in a city or county park without hearing of some one running around with a shovel digging up the grounds and leaving it a mess. So I'm trying to reach as many of these people as I can and 'show' them the proper way to dig and, if we don't reach them folks, our city and county parks will become closed to metal detecting.

Well ... I've said my piece and I'll step down off my soapbox and give someone else a word or two.
