Looks like I'm gonna get an ACE 250.

Been reading up on em here and elsewhere. The only neg things I see is they don't like saltwater (not a prob in MI) They are loud (I have headphones w/ vol adjust) No GB (don't know if this will be a problem here in the U.P. of MI)

A few questions:

1. If you change coils is the ID off? I like to use a small coil for coins in trash.
2. How many of the 12 segments of the disc are iron?
3. Does it ID in the AM mode and does it have a threshold? (true AM not silent search disc)
4. Are ring tabs and square tabs in the same notch window?
5. Can I notch out the zincs and still get the coppers?
6. When does the ground thaw here?? it's 6.3 degs today?
7. Should I get a new or used machine??? Pro package??
8. I see it's a two year warrenty, any extra on that?? can you transfer warr?

I'm sure I'll have other questions as I'm snowed in and not used to it!

I did see a sledding hill the other day, will the unit act werid in the cold?? I guess I need to build a snow sifter scoop!!!! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!

1) ID stays the same
2) Last 1 or 2
3) It will move the cursor to the conductivity icon...it's not a true all metal mode.
4) Sometimes...gold can read anywhere depending on what is is amalgamated with. Higher Kt gold reads @ pulltab
5) Probably not
6) I have not a clue when your ground thaws... it's hard to predict
7) Used ACE 250 hold their value. Garrett honors the machine for 2 years, not the original buyer.
:geek: See above. You can't extend it....

And yes....go hunt that sledding hill. The ACE works great in the cold, as long as you keep the batteries warm. :)

good job John  #4 the ring tabs over here are a little higher on the target ID than the square ones.

49 mins left curr at $142.00 + 18.00 shipping = $160 I think I'd spend the other $40.00 for the warr?? Now best price new on the net with free shipping???

Cause the green machines have awsome depth in AM found lot's o cool stuff with the GTI 2500! DEEP!

n/t

And appears to be unchanged. About time somebody left a good design alone!

Yeah that's about right. I field tested the proto and production model back then. Don't seem like it's been that long. I was just thinking it's been 10-11 years since I field tested the GTI 2500. Where in the hell has the time gone? The GTI is getting older and so am I.

This little Yeller Feller will surprise you. It ain't no toy. :) That's why all us old farts have parked our big, "Gee Whiz" machines and use the 250.
