hi guys. got a guestion. if you set up a program, save it, push detect, you have the program you saved, but, how do you detect in any other program, without deleting this saved program.i can use iron mask, dig., but these are set to the saved program, right? let me know,i'm lost.

lets see, from memory here, middle left button takes you to a list of add / delete items. 1st hit delete, this will clear your present program, then scroll down till you get S1 thru S6 which are your 6 saved screens, scroll the screen next to the add button and add it. it will load. If you don't clear the screen before you add the new program you will then have both programs on the screen.

saving the SETTINGS (User 1 and User 2) or S-screens (discrimination masks)?
If you saved it in User 1 for example, whatever was in there is overwritten, but User 2 is still intact. If you select IM - whatever, your user SETTINGS are still intact, and so are saved SETTINGS User 1 and User 2 which contain audio preferences, deep, fast, tone, etc.
The S-screens (discrimination patterns or masks) are "working items, meaning when you call them up individually, the replace ONLY the discrimination pattern currently in use, and have no effect on other discrim patterns OR User settings.
IM is a separate temporary overlay of the S-screens, and once you cancel the IM, you are back at the last used S-screen (discrim pattern) that was in use before IM was requested.

I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE -S-PROGRAMS, I WAS GETTIN THE WHOLE MESS MIXED UP,SO THANX VARMIT I THINK I' KINDA IN LINE NOW

OK, you know how I differentiated between User 1+2 and the S-screens (discrimination patterns)?
Well here is a new one that might not be obvious until you try it.
Let's say you have 2 independent User Settings (audio, tones, deep, fast, etc) stored, and you like them both, but would like to try the factory default for a site or patch within a site.
With the unit off, if you hold down the power switch for 5 seconds or so, the machine will recall the FACTORY DEFAULT, but it does NOT clear the User Settings you have stored. The FACTORY DEFAULT will put you back into Quickstart, but after you are done trying out the FACTORY DEFAULT Setting, you can get back to your (2) stored User Settings by pressing MENU, selecting OPTIONS, selecting ADVANCED, and pressing the BACK button. Now you will see the SETTINGS option displayed again, so you can use that to recall one of your previously saved User Settings.
Pretty cool, and it amounts to having (3) completely separate program options, but of course one is the factory default.
I use this from time to time whilst hunting, just to see how things sounded "way back when" I was first getting started. This machine is very cool indeed.

Did you get the little fold out operations schematic?
Its plastic coated and pocket sized. I had to use this in the field in actual hunt conditions for it to burn into my brain.
