Low tide of -1.7 feet

Been reading posts for awhile and really want to thank everyone for the tips. I have mostly been detecting playground areas and finding a lot off clad. Today though my wife was flying out of Santa Barbara, Ca. So I checked the tide charts and hot dog if it was not only low tide but a -1.7 feet low. Only got out for about an hour and a half because of rain, but after only finding a handful of change I had a solid ping of 28. 6 inches down in the wet sand and it looked like a gold tinsel from a tree and out came the ear ring. About ten minutes later I had a solid ping of 42. I thought ok a quarter before packing it in. About 6 inches down in the wet sand and a gold colored ball looked at me. The ring has a stamp on the inside of "SILVER"

:thumbup:Great finds.Which Xterra and what were your settings?

Side note: And to think a "certain individual" really criticized the Xterra's beach hunting capabilities over on Treasure net forums.

Here is the quote:
Sorry, but ALL single frequency VLF detectors struggle in wet saltwater sand, and the "prospector mode" on the 705 is NOT good for a wet saltwater beach. It will false and chatter just like my Tesoro Lobo Super Traq on wet saltwater beaches. You'll be very lucky to get 6" in depth.

:nono:Doesn't sound like the Xterra struggled in this case!

 Anyone that knows him also know that he's a Tesoro shill that doesn't think that detector technology has changed in the last 30yrs.....because for his preferred brand it hasn't.

The tide was out but the treasure came in
Well done :)

Yeah - really nice find! Looking at the X-Terra 705, however looks like coil is only water resistant and not waterproof. I assume you did not submerge the coil - am I correct? thanks Len

Len, I have had this coil under two feet of salt water multiple times. It is water proof.
