long, long ago here in the town I live in west of Portland, Oregon. I mention it simply because all too often there has been an historic site or a 'visit' by someone who, in the future, will become 'historic' but the particular location has been over modernized. Such is the case here where, during some renovation last year and some digging they have been working on this past few weeks within maybe 2 blocks of where the old jail used to be, shows that progress and ample time have certainly eliminated the old coins and artifacts of long ago.
It's the kind of thing that make me appreciate the out-of-the-way ghost towns and pioneering campsites left "out West,' and really admire the opportunities still awaiting the visit by you hunters "back East" who still have a lot of old CW sites, and some earlier and later, that are untouched, or at least not all built-over.
I just thought I'd add this post to say "Thank You!" to everyone who gets out, finds good stuff, and then reports back to the rest of us. Your rewards are appreciated by most of us. best of luck on your next foray afield!
