What do you guys find is the best overall settings to start with for deeper coins??? I dug a one foot deep hole in my backyard, and thru a barber dime in it, i left it uncovered. My ltd couldnt find it!! I was running sense 67,disc 15,notch 1,tones 3,process bp.I started making some adjustments, but I think do to my inexperience i got lost and stopped.I went to the ball park and foun 4 clad dimes and a handful of pennies, all arond 2 to 3 inches deep.Sens 50,disc40,notch 1,tones 3,process de.

Rick,
A hole 12" deep is not the same a coin at 12".
A lot of detectors need to have the coin in the ground for a while....
I don't have a F-75 LTD, but I know that with a F-75 you loose depth with disc above 4.
Try this in a air test with a wooden ruler, put the Sens at 60, 3 tone, DE mode, now put your Disc at 15 and see how far you can pick up. say a dime....
Next, lower the Disc to zero and see how far you can pick up the dime, there should be an increase.....
Next, put your disc at 4 and test again.
At one spot in my back yard, the ground balance number is 60 and the Fe2O4 shows nothing, we have some good soil here....
Do a lot of reading on the F-75 and the LTD is not that much different...
And what works for someone else in their area, may not work for you in your area....
Good Luck and HH.
BJ

I doubt a 12" deep silver dime in the ground would be seen by the F75 LTD, at least not in my soil (NasaTom can barely hit a 12" dime in inert Florida soil on the F75 LTD).

The depth issue above disc 4 doesn't apply to the F75 LTD. There is an increased sensitivity when using a disc setting less then 5 or higher then 20 (you'll hear the extra noise).

The factory settings are pretty good for starting off with.

It's really not a hard machine to use, but get used to audio fatigue if you max it out going for the fringe depth targets

Thanx for the replies,BJ,Brian.I do notice a difference in chatter, with disc. less than 5 or higher than 20.I was at a county fairground friday and the ltd started running amuck!! so bad i couldnt even gb,I stuck with it for awhile, but finally did a reset to factory default,it quieted right down..I s that common? I have also started to wright down my changes in settings. You guys are great and i thank you again for all your help!! And trust me there will be more questions down the road LOL:beers:

I buried a MX silver dollar sized coin at 15 inches and the F75LTD hits it every time. I'll have to check my settings and post them. I know I have it set pretty hot.

Just started using the new Ltd, I'm getting some readings show that deep but then about 10" I lose the signal even with the pinpointer. Maybe I should keep digging?

Hey Shooter, I had the same exact problem today-my first time out with the LTD. I may be wrong, but I came to the conclusion I need to rely more on the confidence scale and not just the tones and VDI. I need to slow down and be sure I have a good target to begin with. Also, there were times today when my detector sounded like the old Atari video game "Pong". I suppose I did the right thing by turning down the sensitivity until it quieted down. Fun machine so far, just gotta learn it better. HH. Matt

Thank for the info, only happens in DISC, but I pick up on that hint to Less then 3 it's iffy. Awesome machine, Can see what I've been missing in all my other detector, this is my first with all the TID, Multi tone, confidence graph makes it alot easier then the older detector. Get a reading of "85" and your wondering if its a clad or a seated, before you'd say is it a Pulltab or CAN-SLAW.
