The ground is still frozen here in West Central Missouri, so I headed South to hunt a Missouri battlefield on private property with owners permission. Went to an area I have had good success in the past with other machines. It's a gental slope that covers about ten acres. I gridded off the whole field and coverered it thoroughly during the past four years. The gound is clayish and most targets were six inches deep, or less. At the foot of the slop it levels off and in the past I had found severl deeper bullets. I decided to try this area with my new LTD. Was hunting in All Metal with sensitivity set at 55. I immediately started finding bullets. Not small pistol bullets, but many larger calibre minie balls. The two best bullets were two ring .69 cal. Rifled Musketoons, shown on either side of the eagle "I" button face in the center. I also found a shell fragment nose piece from a 3" Dyer artillery shell. I was amazed to find .30 cal. pistol balls in the six to eight inch deep range. The deepest target was the shell frag at nearly a foot deep. Evven the deep pistol balls gave a good solid signal. The LTD really goes after the deep targets. This was the best day for numbers of bullets dug in one day in over four years at this site. Don't know what the brass item is in the upper rigth corner of the picture. It's a hollow brass finial looking item that appears to have been attached to an iron piece. My wife thought it looked like a decoration off a brass bed.
