Ltd was smoking today.

Got in a good nearly five hour hunt today, trying to get a leg up on the white stuff that is in the forecast for tomorrow. Hit a spot that had yielded me clad and 2 or 3 silvers in the past, but always was a tough emi spot. This morning was no exception. Right off, the LTD began chattering like a flock of starving blackbirds. This morning I decided rather then lower sen. and raise disc. that I would work with the "frequency shift" and see if I could quiet the LTD down enough this way. After working my way to frequency 6, the LTD became quiet as a mouse. I was able to run sen. 85, disc. 4, b p mode and 3h tones. G B was 63-66 throughout the hunt. Besides some clad and other curios, I recovered 3 silver coins, a 34 Washington quarter, 58d Rosie and a 43p war nickel. And kind of as a bonus, a sterling Medic Alert bracelet. Near the end of the hunt, I got a bouncy quarter reading, mostly 80-84 with the occasional 90 thrown in. I dug about a 4" deep clod and spotted a clad quarter on edge in the clod. Plucked the quarter, re-scanned the clod and got another high tone hit. Broke the clod open and recovered 4 more quarters and 2 clad dimes. I started moving dirt back into the hole and remembered the 90 reading??? so re-scanned the hole. Got another good high tone hit with the again 90 reading. Dug down another 3 or so inches and saw part of a chain and medal in the clod. The person that lost the alert medal was allergic to iodine dye. O.K., now if the white stuff will just stay up in yankee land. HH jim tn

Good day silver is always sweet,.

trust me jim! it's stayin' all winter here....no break for at least 2 months!
great hunt!..good thing to remember to change frequencies can sometimes mitigate
the "babble!"..it's incremental but it will make a difference,as you discovered!
"outrageous" day!

I Sir will have you know I resemble that remark ( Yankee)..LOL Nice finds Jim..wow maybe you better leave that Omega in the closet......Your doing very well with that LTD.

Yes EMI makes all the difference.
You did good.

WTG...... Jim,.......HH.......Dan......ltd will do it.

Thats like a good month for me, Congratulations Jim

Thanks everyone. El, emi on this field has always been a problem. Most recoveries are in the 2-6" depth range, so most detectors would find them. I've never been sure, though, if some of the fields around the base have had some of the dirt moved around some, as its not uncommon to dig clad 7-8" and silver 3-4." and at times, vise versa. We know when the Tek and Fisher F detectors are effected by emi and can ultimately make corrections. That apparently is not always the case with some detectors. NASA Tom states one should always do a frequency shift for achieving maximum depth and stability, even when not affected all that much. I guess you are getting even with me for my "yankee" remark, as we have rain, sleet and 2" of snow in the forecast for today and tonight. HH everyone, jim tn

That was a good batch of finds Jim, glad you tried the freq shift. I went back and read Tom's article on that and I am going to try it as well in some bad spots. Thanks for the pictures. HH - Randy

who says it don't snow down south!..now ya get a taste of what we get to deal with!
