I managed to get permission to hunt an old house this morning that had recently burned. The owner said no problem, but when arriving the heavily fenced property was grown up too deep already. So, after deciding to wait for the lot cleaning, I decided to hunt a small section of the curb strip along one side of the corner lot. As soon as I got sweeping , about 5 hispanic kids ,maybe 6-8 years old, ran up and started peppering me with questions. I shucked the phones and tried to explain a little to them . After resuming and after maybe one full sweep, I got a strong quarter signal about 4 inches. I suspected a clad, but the plug showed that sweet sight of silver, A `48 Washington. They were amazed ! I left quickly, deciding to go back Monday when they are in school. LOL HH

THAT happened to me in Hebronville, in deep south Texas Randy a few months ago. I was hunting an old football field, and a bunch of kids came running over. I told them the next signal was probably junk, and it turned out to be a 1917 SLQ! LOL The dirtbags then started hanging out with me. I finally left, to return when they were in school.......LOL

Ahh, the elusive Washington silver quarter. Maybe I will find one this year. Congrats !

Nice find! Those curb strips can be really good sites, as long as you can work through the trash. Way to go and HH!

Nice find  hope you find lots more on your return trip.
