Lunch Time finds

pilot

New member
This hobby is so addicting...I have been skipping eating at lunch time to metal detect for a half hour or so. Today I stopped near an old train station and within 5 minutes I had found a 1946 Wheat and a 1944 Mercury dime about 3 inches from each other and 3 inches down. Ground was very hard. This was my second silver find. The other was a 1939 Mercury dime about a week ago. This Mercury was almost black while the other one was found at the edge of a residential sidewalk and was bright silver. There was junk everywhere but the 705 with the 10x5 DD sorted right through it. May need to get the 6" DD for even better separation in these junky areas. The 705 rocks!!!

Great job pilot, the only way I will find silver here in these new parks is if it was lost in the last fourteen years but most of the parks are seven years or newer.

Thanks Todd...I am kinda jealous of the eastern guys with so much more history on there side. Oldest town in my area goes back to the mid 1850's. Been trying to do some research as to where some of the old homesteads were but haven't had much luck. Might have to just stop at some older farms and inquire.

Look on eBay for old city maps, that is what I'm going to try.
