m6 coils

Hi
I just acquired an m6. It came with the standard coil. What other coils should I get?

Depends on what hunting you do.The standard 950 coil is a great all round coil that is underated by many in my opinion.....brilliant on the beach for example. If you are hunting in the trash, the 10x6 elliptical from whites is a good coil.....many use this as their standard coil. These two coils will cover most situations, but you may want a bigger coil for ground coverage on cleaner ground or the beach.Whites offer the deepscan but i've used it and it's just too heavy, their 12" spider coil is good but being a concentric coil will suffer in high mineralisation, great on the beach though.
Coil choice can start to get complicated but I think if you have the standard coil and the 10x6 you will cope with most situations.

For me i like the 9.50 i like to keep moveing and not stand in 1 place to long but dont get me wrong i really cover the ground im detecting, maby i might put a few more Hrs in the 5.3,-- later on i want to get another MD so i have 1 with a large coil and 1 with a small one. Z

IMHO, the 4x6 DD coil is the best coil available for any White's machine. Good depth, great separation, feather light! Stays on my M6 95% of the time. Just recently got the 5.3" coil because of all the good I have heard about it. I think I will like it, just nowhere near as much as the 4x6.

Just my two colones (I am in Costa Rica as I'm writing this!)

My favorite coil for the M6 is the SEF 8x6, I leave it on 90% of the time. As far as I know, Kellyco is still the only place to get them in the States. It is a good one for trash.

Here is a review of the coil by Larry (IL)

For my M6 I added a 4x6 shooter and a 6x8 SEF. I use the stock 950 for the beach .The 6x8 is the one I use the most .

Hi garrybk, on the 6x8 coil, where dose it pinpoint? under the rod in middle of coil or under the tag just behind the rod? Sometimes i have trouble with the pinpoint, i just cut a little longer plug. Thanks Flintstone

My SEF 8x6 pinpoints right under the rod, in the middle of the coil.
