I jump at the lite rain today and got out to hunt.I did not have my 1280x so I used an older Whites Blue Max 950 Wrapped a bag on it . The beach area I hunted was only about 30ft of sand and the rest of the 200 ft of beach was covered with water and waves.
I randomly searched and found a few coins. The dune was cut in about 9ft so I worked against that wall area I never left a 50ft area. About an 1hr later there were 4 hunters. I found lots of clad (96 coins) 12 Rosie's 12 nickles to many pennies to count.
I then found what I though was a half placed it in my apron then rechecked to make sure it was not a token. It was a half my second one in 30 years the first being a 1899. I first though it was just a half and was happy then I thought hey it might be silver. Later at the car I found it was a 1949 Franklin half. I got home and placed all the silver in tumbler. The I checked the key dates for Franklin's Sure enough 1949 was a key date if it was a D or S I ran down and took it out to find it was 1949 D it only got 5 minutes worth of tumbling! Now hows that from going from happy to find it, to disappointment as I found a key date coin that in very bad condition?
Spend 2.5 hrs in 50mph winds and rain. Will do it again tomorrow.
