Man my arm is tired

Went back to where I found the Barber Quarter today. Found one 1948 Wheatie. Spent about 6 hours there, still have a lot of area to search.
When my XL Pro would peg the needle from one sweep and maybe stop on quarter/dime from another,I would pinpoint and if depth was five inches or more I investigated although the target didnt seem coin size. It was some type of rusted metal. I did get one once that would lock up on silver dollar, sweeping from several directions, it would lock up or want to lock up and fall back to a penny, it was a rusted nail, about an inch long.
Im off all week so Ill get to go back. Suppose to rain here tomorrow.
Funny thing, I find some aluminum foil, but not the first pull tab yet, old or new. Havent got close to the street yet.

What coil are you using on that area, and what mode? When I am using geb disc mode and find one of those kind of signals, I pinpoint it with trigger pulled in geb norm, then if the signal is wide using the needle as a guide I will use another check. With the suspected target's exact location known by pinpointing, make a several quick short pass's over the target, this signal should now break up and show it's true identity. If you are still unsure, dig it up.............Hombre

Heya Hombre,
I usually do that. I search in SAT mode. I can usually tell what size it is without pinpointing. Sometimes I will pull that trigger and swing over the target to see what it sounds like in the disc mode, and then with trigger pulled size it up by just watching the needle. But ya never know what may be beside or under that metal, Ive found coins in the same hole with rusted metal/nails and the needle was was wanting to lock up on something good. So sometimes I just dig. Then sometimes Im lazy, lol. I had plenty time yesterday so I dug some of those signals. I was using the 5.3 coil. I took my time hunting a small area where I found that quarter. There were a lot of nails and rust in different spots, I think I could use my 8 inch coil next time.
Ive been using the Pro for close to a year now, really like it. Ive got an itching for another brand detector after witnessing it been used and reading all the good things said about it. Just gonna hold off for a bit to see what the new year brings.
Yes, I like searching in SAT mode and sometimes pulling the trigger into disc mode onece Ive isolated a signal. I use very little discrimination. Use the 5.3 coil most times, but I have to say lately at some of the place Ive been going, I could use the 9.5. Its a shame we dont have a good selection of coils for this machine.
Thanks for the reply,

You said in your last sentence, " Its a shame we don't have a good selection of coils for this machine ". How many more coils do ya need? There is the Snooper 350 ( 4 inch ), Bullseye 5.3 ( 6 inch ) Proscan, or Royal 800 ( 8 inch ) The stock 950 coil, then the 15 inch coil that you see once in awhile. Then there is the shooter DD 4 by 6, that i have heard is'nt very deep.

I have two detectors that share the same coils, 6000 Pro XL and an IDX Pro modified, and they compliment each other wonderfully. I use them both, as one or the other excells on different search areas. Have a good'n.........Hombre

Dont ya know the grass is always greener on the other side, lol. Nah, just always wondered what it would be like to try some of the excellerator coils or maybe the new Whites DD. I have the three coils and thats been good enough so far.
Im ready to get another machine. Was wanting a brand x from down under but I will wait for the new year and see what it brings.

Say it ain't so, John
You don't want one those Mindless machines do ya? After all the crap I been a read'n about their detectors make'n all kinds of tooty flooty noises, I'd think it would be enough to drive ya batty. To each his own i guess. Have a good'n......Hombre
