Managed some silver on Saturday before the monsoon came...

Man, did it rain here! The most rain ever recorded in NYC since they started keeping records... over 8" of rain in 24 hours! I was actually going to go to the beach Sunday afternoon in the middle of the storm but decided against it. Anyway, on Saturday I hit one of my regular spots. In an area where a guy told me he's NEVER seen any silver (ah, a challenge!) I found these:

A nice little '52 Rosie about 3" down :)

And this little sterling ring (which I tried to enlarge a little and broke it at the weld :( )

I've been digging plenty of pull tabs and aluminum but can't seem to dig any gold :)
 
Good going Joe ! Seems like I dug a ring just like that. How did you try to enlarge it ? Here in so Az we get about 6-8 inches of rain in 1 year ! Steve in so az
 
I used a mandrel. I wasn't surprised that it broke though... When I looked at the ring, I thought I could see a seam. Sure enough, that's where it broke.

Yeah, I figured we beat your yearly rainfall totals in just 24 hours :) I'll tell you what though, the ground will be like butter this weekend :)
 
A mandrel is the way to go. Silver can be stretched up to one whole size usually. The solder joint was poorly done probably.
The ground sure will be soft for you. On my wall bulliton board I have several sites listed waiting for rains so I can dig. Might be a long wait, Steve
 
you'd have had more than 8 inches of snow from all that moisture.
